Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Abu Makin bin Aban (may Allah have mercy on him) states that Hazrat Ikrimah (may Allah have mercy on him) considered it disliked to wear silk and brocade in battle. And he used to say: Would a person who hopes for martyrdom wear this?!

Hazrat Yunus bin Ubaid (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates that Hasan (may Allah have mercy on him) considered it disliked to wear silk in battle.

Hazrat Waleed bin Hisham, may Allah have mercy on him, says that I wrote a letter to Hazrat Ibn Muheiriz, may Allah have mercy on him, and asked: Is it permissible to wear silk and long coats in Dar al-Harb? He, may Allah have mercy on him, wrote in reply: When you have presented yourself for martyrdom, then you should dislike that thing even more which is disliked even at the time of fighting.

Hazrat Waleed bin Hisham (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates that Hazrat Ibn Muheiriz (may Allah have mercy on him) considered wearing silk to be disliked even in war.

Hazrat Suwaid bin Ghaflah (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates that we were present at the Battle of Yarmouk, and Hazrat Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) came to receive us while we were wearing silk and jade. So, by his order, stones were thrown at us.
