Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever obeyed me has indeed obeyed Allah. And whoever obeyed the leader has indeed obeyed me. And whoever disobeyed me has indeed disobeyed Allah. And whoever disobeyed the leader has indeed disobeyed me.

Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever obeyed me has indeed obeyed Allah. And whoever obeyed my leader has indeed obeyed me.

Hazrat Abu Salih (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates that Hazrat Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) explained the interpretation of this verse as follows: Verse: Translation: Obey Allah and obey the Messenger, and those in authority among you. He said: By this is meant the rulers.

Hazrat Mus'ab bin Sa'd (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates that Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) bin Abi Talib said a few words and spoke absolutely correctly: That is, it is obligatory upon the Imam to judge according to the Qur'an revealed by Allah, and to fulfill the trust. And if he does so, then it is obligatory upon the Muslims to listen to him and obey him. And when they are called, they should respond to the call.

Hazrat Abdullah bin Muhammad bin Aqeel (may Allah have mercy on him) says that in the verse: { وَأُولِی الأَمْرِ مِنْکُمْ }, what is meant are the jurists and the people of virtue.

Hazrat Ibn Abi Najeeh (may Allah have mercy on him) says that Hazrat Mujahid (may Allah have mercy on him) explained the interpretation of this verse as follows: Verse { أَطِیعُوا اللَّہَ وَأَطِیعُوا الرَّسُولَ وَأُولِی الأَمْرِ مِنْکُمْ } Hazrat Mujahid (may Allah have mercy on him) used to say that most of the companions (may Allah be pleased with them) of Muhammad (peace be upon him) used to say that those meant are people of intellect and understanding, and those who have comprehension in the religion of Allah.

Hazrat Rabi’ bin Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that Hazrat Abu Al-‘Aliyah (may Allah have mercy on him) said: By “those in authority” is meant the noble scholars.

Hazrat Abdullah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever has pledged allegiance to an Imam, he has given him the grasp of his hand and the love of his heart. Therefore, he should obey him to the best of his ability.

Hazrat Umm Hissain (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) delivered a sermon in the plain of Arafat and said: If even an Abyssinian slave is appointed as your leader, then listen to him and obey him as long as he leads you according to the Book of Allah the Exalted.

Hazrat Umm Hissain Ahmiyyah (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) delivered a sermon in the plain of Arafat while he had wrapped himself in a sheet, and said: Even if a slave of Abyssinian origin with a cut nose is appointed as your leader, listen to him and obey him as long as he leads you according to the guidance of the Noble Qur'an.

Hazrat Abu Salih (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates that Hazrat Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) explained the interpretation of this verse as follows: Verse { أَطِیعُوا اللَّہَ وَأَطِیعُوا الرَّسُولَ وَأُولِی الأَمْرِ مِنْکُمْ } that by this, the commanders of armies are meant.
