Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) saw the women of the Ansar coming from a wedding ceremony, he said: By Allah! You people are the most beloved to me among all people.

Hazrat Qais bin Sa'd bin Ubadah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: O Allah! Have mercy on the Ansar, and on the children of the Ansar, and on the children of the children of the Ansar.

Hazrat Abu Saeed Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: If people walk in one valley and mountain pass, and O Ansar! you walk in another valley and mountain pass, then surely I will walk in your valley and mountain pass. You are to me like the inner part of a garment, and the rest of the people are like the outer part of a garment. And if migration were not an important matter, I would have been a man from among the Ansar. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) raised both his hands, until I saw the whiteness of his armpits beneath his shoulders. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) prayed: O Allah! Forgive the Ansar. And forgive the children of the Ansar.

Hazrat Bara bin Azib (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: None but a believer will love the Ansar, and none but a hypocrite will harbor enmity towards them. Whoever loves them, Allah also loves him. And whoever harbors enmity towards them, Allah also harbors enmity towards him.

Hazrat Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: If people were to walk in one valley or mountain pass, and the Ansar were to walk in another valley or mountain pass, I would certainly walk in the valley or mountain pass of the Ansar. And if migration were not an important matter, I would have been one of the Ansar myself.

Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever loves the Ansar, Allah will also love him, and whoever harbors enmity towards the Ansar, Allah will also harbor enmity towards him.

Hazrat Harith bin Ziyad (may Allah be pleased with him), who was a Badri companion, narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever loves the Ansar, Allah Almighty will also love him until he meets Allah, and whoever harbors enmity towards the Ansar, Allah will also harbor enmity towards him until he meets Allah.

Hazrat Hakam bin Mina (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates that Hazrat Yazid bin Jariyah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I was sitting among a group of the Ansar when Hazrat Muawiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) passed by us. He asked the people about what they were discussing. The people replied: We are talking about the Ansar. Upon this, Hazrat Muawiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Shall I not narrate to you a hadith which I myself heard from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)? The people said: O Commander of the Faithful, why not! Certainly! He (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: Whoever loves the Ansar, Allah will also love him. And whoever harbors enmity against the Ansar, Allah will also harbor enmity against him.

Hazrat Abu Saeed Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Beware, my special people to whom I have sought refuge are my household. And surely my confidants are the Ansar. So overlook their faults and appreciate their good deeds.

Hazrat Bara bin Azib (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Appreciate their good deeds and overlook their shortcomings. That is, the people of the Ansar.

Hazrat Sa'd bin 'Ubadah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Indeed, the tribe of Ansar are a trial. Love for them is a sign of faith, and hatred for them is a sign of hypocrisy."

Hazrat Ubayy (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: If migration were not an important matter, I would have been one of the Ansar myself, and if the Ansar were to walk in any valley or mountain pass, I would walk with the Ansar.

Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: People are to me like the outer part of a garment, and the Ansar are to me like the inner part of a garment. And the Ansar are my special confidants. If migration were not an important matter, I would have been one of the Ansar myself.

Hazrat Thabit, may Allah have mercy on him, narrates that Hazrat Abu Bakr bin Anas, may Allah have mercy on him, said: Hazrat Zaid bin Arqam, may Allah be pleased with him, wrote a letter to Hazrat Anas, may Allah be pleased with him, offering condolences for his child and wife who were martyred who were martyred on the day of Harrah. In his letter, he wrote: And I give you glad tidings from Allah which I heard the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) say. He (may Allah be pleased with him) said: O Allah! O Allah! Forgive the Ansar, and their children, and their grandchildren, and the women of the Ansar, and the women of their children, and the women of their grandchildren.

Hazrat Asim bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that whenever the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) mentioned the Ansar, he would say that they are full of chastity and patience.

Asim bin Umar bin Qatadah (may Allah have mercy on him) said that the eye of Qatadah bin Nu’man (may Allah be pleased with him) fell out onto his cheek on the day of the Battle of Uhud. So the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) returned it to its place, and the eye of him (may Allah be pleased with him) became more beautiful and sharper than before.

Hazrat Muhammad bin Ishaq (may Allah have mercy on him) states that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) returned the hand of Hazrat Khubaib bin Asaf (may Allah be pleased with him) to its place, which had been cut off from between the neck and the shoulder on the day of the Battle of Badr. So the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) returned it. That place appeared as if there was only a slight mark.

Hazrat Asim bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that a man came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). He mentioned the Quraysh and their gathering, and began to issue threats on their behalf. Upon this, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said to him: "The people of the tribes of Aws and Khazraj will revolt against you, and indeed they are such a people that no one can withstand their anger."

Hazrat Amr bin Murrah (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates that I heard Hazrat Abu Hamzah (may Allah have mercy on him) saying that the Ansar said: O Messenger of Allah! Indeed, every prophet has followers, and surely we have obeyed you, so pray to Allah that He makes us among your followers. Upon this, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) prayed for them that Allah make them among the followers. The narrator says: I mentioned its chain of narration before Hazrat Abdur Rahman bin Abi Laila (may Allah be pleased with him), so he said: This was said by Hazrat Zaid (may Allah be pleased with him).

Hazrat Usaid bin Hudair (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said to the Ansar: "Soon after me, you will find that others are given preference over you." They asked: "O Messenger of Allah, what do you command us to do?" He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Adopt patience until you meet me at the Pond of Kawthar."

Hazrat Abdullah bin Zaid (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: If migration were not an important matter, I would have been one of the Ansar myself. If people were to walk in one valley or mountain pass, I would walk in the valley or mountain pass of the Ansar. The Ansar are to me like the inner part of a garment, and the rest of the people are like the outer part of a garment to me. And indeed, soon you will see that others will be given preference over you. So be patient until you meet me at the Pond of Kawthar.

Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The Quraysh, the Ansar, the tribe of Juhaina, the tribe of Muzaina, and the people of Aslam and Ghifar are the friends of Allah and His Messenger ﷺ. Apart from them, they have no friend.

Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) went out early in the morning while the Muhajireen and Ansar were digging the trench. When he (peace and blessings be upon him) looked towards them, he recited this verse: "Beware! The real life is the life of the Hereafter. O Allah! Forgive the Ansar and the Muhajireen." In response, the companions (may Allah be pleased with them) recited this verse: "We are those who have pledged allegiance to Muhammad (peace be upon him), to engage in jihad as long as we remain."

Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: No person who believes in Allah and the Last Day will harbor hatred against the Ansar.

Hazrat Abu Saeed Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: No person who believes in Allah and the Last Day will harbor hatred against the Ansar.

Hazrat Abdullah bin Rabah (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates that we came as a delegation, and among us was Hazrat Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him). And it was the month of Ramadan. He (may Allah be pleased with him) said: O group of Ansar! Shall I not narrate to you a hadith about yourselves? The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: O group of Ansar! The people said: O Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him)! We are present. He (peace be upon him) said: You people say: A man has become inclined towards his own area and he loves his own tribe! We have said this! O Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him)! He (peace be upon him) said: Then is this my name? He (peace be upon him) said: Never. Surely, I am Allah’s servant and His Messenger. I migrated towards you. Living is with you and dying is also with you. The narrator says all the companions began to weep and said: O Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him)! The only reason we said this was that nearness to Allah and His Messenger (peace be upon him) was our objective. He (peace be upon him) said: Surely, Allah and His Messenger (peace be upon him) both affirm you and accept your excuse.

Hazrat Abdullah bin Abi Qatadah (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates that I was informed that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: If migration were not an important matter, I would have been one of the Ansar.

Hazrat Rifa’ah bin Rafi’ (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) supplicated: O Allah! Forgive the Ansar, and the children of the Ansar, and the children of their children, and their servants, and their neighbors.

Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that one day the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was sitting on the pulpit. He (peace be upon him) had taken his cloak in the manner of Ihram and had tied a black band on his head. He (peace be upon him) praised and glorified Allah, then said: O people! You are many and the Ansar are few, to the extent that they will become like the amount of salt in food. So whoever has any dealings with them should accept their good deeds and overlook their faults.

Hazrat Talha (may Allah have mercy on him) said that it was said that having enmity towards the Ansar is hypocrisy.

Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: O Allah! Reform the Ansar and the Muhajireen.

Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) saw the women and children of the Ansar returning from a wedding ceremony, so he said: O Allah! Among the people, these are the dearest to me.
