Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Mus'ar (may Allah have mercy on him) says that Hazrat Qasim bin Abdur Rahman (may Allah have mercy on him) stated: Hazrat Abu Darda (may Allah be pleased with him) is among those people who were granted knowledge.

Hazrat A'mash (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates that Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: Some garments came to Hazrat Umar (may Allah be pleased with him). So he was distributing those garments among the people. Meanwhile, a Najrani garment arrived which was valuable, and he (may Allah be pleased with him) placed it under his thigh until my name was called. I said: Please let me wear this garment. He (may Allah be pleased with him) said: By Allah! I will give this garment to a man who is better than you, and whose father is better than your father. Then he (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) called Hazrat Abdullah bin Hanzalah bin Rahib (may Allah have mercy on him) and made him wear that garment.
