Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Zir, may Allah have mercy on him, narrates that Hasan and Husain, may Allah be pleased with them both, used to play on the blessed back of the Messenger of Allah while he was performing prayer. When people tried to remove them, the Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him and his family, said: Leave them alone. May my parents be sacrificed for them both. Whoever loves me should also love them both.

Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) prayed: O Allah! I love both of them, so You also love both of them. That is, Hasan (may Allah be pleased with him) and Husain (may Allah be pleased with him).

Hazrat Abu Saeed (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) said: Hasan (may Allah be pleased with him) and Husain (may Allah be pleased with him) are the leaders of the youth of Paradise.

Hazrat Zir bin Hubaish (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates that Hazrat Hudhaifa (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I presented myself in the service of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). So I performed the Maghrib prayer with him. Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) continued to pray until he performed the Isha prayer, and when he (peace and blessings be upon him) went outside, I began to search for him. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: An angel appeared before me who had sought permission from his Lord to send blessings and peace upon me, and he gave me the glad tidings that Hasan and Husain are the leaders of the youth of Paradise.

Hazrat Hasan (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) raised Hasan bin Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) up with him on the pulpit and said: "Indeed, this son of mine is a leader. And soon Allah, the Exalted, will bring reconciliation between two groups of Muslims through him."

Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Hasan (may Allah be pleased with him) and Husain (may Allah be pleased with him) are the leaders of the youth of Paradise.

Hazrat Ya'la (may Allah be pleased with him) Al-Amiri (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that Hazrat Hasan (may Allah be pleased with him) and Hazrat Husain (may Allah be pleased with him) both came running to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and he (peace be upon him) embraced both of them to his chest and said: "Children are a cause of miserliness and cowardice."

Hazrat Zaid bin Arqam (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) said to Hazrat Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her), Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him), Hazrat Hasan (may Allah be pleased with him), and Hazrat Husain (may Allah be pleased with him): "Whoever fights with you, I am also at war with him, and whoever makes peace with you, I am also at peace with him."

Hazrat Usama bin Zaid (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that one night I went out for some need and I found the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) came towards me in such a state that he was carrying something, but I did not know what it was. When I finished my need, I asked, "What is this thing that you are carrying?" The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) removed the cloth, and it was Hazrat Hasan (may Allah be pleased with him) and Hazrat Husain (may Allah be pleased with him), who were on his thigh. Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "These two are my sons and my grandsons. O Allah! You know that I love both of them, so You also love both of them."

Hazrat Usama bin Zaid (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to hold me and Hazrat Hasan (may Allah be pleased with him) and supplicate in this way: O Allah! I love both of them, so You also love both of them.

Hazrat Mughira, may Allah have mercy on him, narrates that Hazrat Shabi, may Allah have mercy on him, said: When the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, intended to perform Mubahala with the people of Najran, he held the hands of Hazrat Hasan, may Allah be pleased with him, and Hazrat Husain, may Allah be pleased with him, and Hazrat Fatimah, may Allah be pleased with her, was walking behind him.

Hazrat Salim (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: I have named these two sons of mine Shabbir and Shabbir after the names of the two sons of Hazrat Haroon (peace be upon him).

Hazrat Yahya bin Abi Kathir (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) heard the sound of crying from either Hasan (may Allah be pleased with him) or Husain (may Allah be pleased with him), so the Prophet (peace be upon him) stood up anxiously. Then he said: "Indeed, children are a trial. Surely, I stood up for them and I did not even realize (what I was doing)."

Hazrat Usama (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to hold me and Hazrat Hasan (may Allah be pleased with him) and supplicate in this way: O Allah! I love both of them, so You also love both of them.

Hazrat Zuhair bin Aqmar (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates that Hazrat Hasan bin Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) was delivering a sermon when a man from the tribe of Azd, who was very tall, stood up and said: Indeed, I have seen the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) place his hand on the side of this person and say: Whoever loves me should love him, and the one who is present should convey this to the one who is absent.

Hazrat Buraidah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was delivering a sermon to us when Hazrat Hasan (may Allah be pleased with him) and Hazrat Husain (may Allah be pleased with him) came from the front, both wearing red shirts. They were walking, stumbling and falling, then standing up again. So the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) descended from the pulpit, took both of them, and seated them in front of himself. Then he said: Allah and His Messenger have spoken the truth: Surely your wealth and your children are a trial. I saw these two and could not be patient. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) resumed the sermon.

Hazrat Ibn Abi Nuaim (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates that I was sitting with Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) when a man came and asked a question regarding the blood of a mosquito. So Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) said to him: "Where are you from?" He replied: "I am from the people of Iraq." Upon this, Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) said: "Oh! People, look at him, he is asking me about the blood of a mosquito, whereas these people killed the son of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! And I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: 'They both are my flowers of this world.'"

Hazrat Abdullah bin Shaddad (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates that his father, Hazrat Shaddad (may Allah be pleased with him), said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was called for prayer. He (peace and blessings be upon him) came in such a state that he was carrying Hazrat Hasan (may Allah be pleased with him) and Hazrat Husain (may Allah be pleased with him). He (peace and blessings be upon him) seated them at his side. Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) performed the prostration of his prayer between their backs and made a very long prostration. My father said: I raised my head from among all the people and saw that a child was sitting on the back of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). So I put my head back down in prostration. When the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) finished the prayer with salam, the people asked: O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! Today you performed such a prostration in your prayer as you have never done in your life. Was revelation being sent down upon you? He (peace and blessings be upon him) replied: No! Rather, my son had mounted upon me, so I disliked to get up quickly until he had fulfilled his wish.

Hazrat Bara bin Azib (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that I saw the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). He (peace be upon him) was carrying Hazrat Hasan bin Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) on his shoulder. And he said: O Allah! I love him, so You also love him. Shu’bah (may Allah have mercy on him) says: I asked Hazrat ‘Adi (may Allah be pleased with him): (Was it) Hazrat Hasan (may Allah have mercy on him)? He (may Allah have mercy on him) replied: Yes!

Hazrat Abu Mazarrad Madani, may Allah have mercy on him, narrates that Hazrat Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, said: My two eyes saw and my two ears heard the Prophet (ﷺ). At that time, he (ﷺ) was holding the hand of either Hazrat Hasan (may Allah be pleased with him) or Hazrat Husain (may Allah be pleased with him). The Prophet (ﷺ) was saying: "Become as slender as the eye." The narrator says that then the child placed his foot on the foot of the Noble Prophet (ﷺ), then the Prophet (ﷺ) lifted him and seated him on his chest. Then he (ﷺ) said: "Open your mouth." Then the Prophet (ﷺ) kissed him and said: "O Allah! I love him, so You also love him."

Hazrat Abu Ja'far, may Allah have mercy on him, narrates that Hazrat Hasan, may Allah be pleased with him, and Hazrat Husain, may Allah be pleased with him, wrestled with each other. The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Husain, hurry up!" Hazrat Fatimah, may Allah be pleased with her, asked: "Do you love him (Husain) more?" The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, replied: "No, rather Jibreel (Gabriel), peace be upon him, was saying: 'Husain, hurry up!'"

Hazrat Abu Ja'far (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) passed by a gathering of the Ansar while carrying Hasan (may Allah be pleased with him) and Husain (may Allah be pleased with him). The people said, "What an excellent mount!" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) replied, "And the riders are also very excellent."

Hazrat Ya'la (may Allah be pleased with him) and 'Umari (may Allah be pleased with him) narrate that they set out with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) to attend a meal invitation. On the way, Hazrat Husain (may Allah be pleased with him) was playing with other children. The Prophet stood in front of the people, then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) extended his hand, so the child began to run here and there. And the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) kept laughing. Then, until he caught him, he placed one hand under his chin and the other hand under the back of his head. Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) bent his head down, placed his mouth on his (Husain's) mouth, kissed him, and said: "Husain is from me and I am from Husain (may Allah be pleased with him). And Husain (may Allah be pleased with him) is the best of all grandsons."
