Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Adham Sudosi narrates from some men of his tribe that a woman died and she was a Muslim, and she left behind her Christian mother. Then her mother accepted Islam before the daughter's inheritance was distributed. So the heirs came to Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him). He said, "She has no share in the inheritance." Then he asked, "How much wealth did she leave behind?" When they informed him, he said, "Give her something from it."

Saeed bin Musayyib says that when a deceased person dies, his inheritance should be given to his family members.

Ibrahim says that whoever is freed at the time of death or accepts Islam at the time of death, neither of them has any right, because rights become obligatory at the time of death.

Husain narrates that I saw an old man who was leaning on a staff. People told me that he is the heir of Hazrat Safiyyah; he accepted Islam at the time of her inheritance, so he was not given any share of the inheritance.

Shu’bah says that I asked Hazrat Hakam and Hammad about the person who accepted Islam at the time of the distribution of inheritance; they said that he will not be an heir.

Zuhri says about the slave who is set free at the time of inheritance, that he gets nothing.
