Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Dawud bin Abi Hind reports about Umar bin Abdul Aziz that he used to make the living heirs of the dead, and he did not make those who drowned heirs of one another.

Qatadah says that in the letter of Hazrat Umar bin Abdul Aziz (may Allah have mercy on him) it was stated that every person will be the heir of that individual among the people who is his heir.

A’mash narrates that a woman came to Ibrahim and said: My brother and my nephew were traveling in a boat when both drowned; you did not make either of them an heir to anything.

Mughira narrates that Ibrahim said: Neither of the two will inherit from the other the wealth which he inherited from him.

Muammar narrates from Zuhri about those people who die together in such a way that it is not known which of them died before the other; he said that they will not be made heirs of one another.
