Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Muhammad bin Sirin narrates that Ubaidullah bin Ziyad intended to make a uterine sister an heir in the presence of the grandfather, and he said that Hazrat Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) had made a uterine sister an heir along with the grandfather. So Hazrat Abdullah bin Utbah said: "I am neither a Saba'i nor a Khariji, therefore you should follow the hadith, because as long as you follow the hadith, you will not go astray from the straight path."

Shu'bi narrates that none of the companions of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) made a maternal sister an heir in the presence of a paternal uncle.

Ibrahim states that Hazrat Zaid (may Allah be pleased with him) did not make maternal half-brothers and maternal half-sisters heirs in the presence of the grandfather.

It is narrated from Ibrahim that Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) and Hazrat Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) would not make maternal brothers and sisters heirs to anything in the presence of the grandfather. Hazrat Abu Bakr says that this issue will be resolved from a single share, because all the wealth will go to the grandfather.
