Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Fudayl narrates from Ibrahim regarding the woman who left her paternal uncles, among whom one was her maternal brother. About her, Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) and Hazrat Zaid (may Allah be pleased with him) gave the verdict that her maternal brother will receive one-sixth, then he will later share in the wealth with those uncles. And in this matter, Hazrat Ibn Mas’ud (may Allah be pleased with him) gave the verdict that all the wealth belongs to him. And this issue concerns the lineage that existed in the state of polytheism, then the family members later became Muslim. Imam Abu Bakr says that this issue, according to the statement of Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) and Zaid (may Allah be pleased with him), will be divided into six parts, and according to the statement of Hazrat Abdullah, it will be divided into one part because all the wealth belongs to him.

33167 - Abu Bakr said: So this, according to the statement of Ali and Zayd, is from six shares, and according to the statement of Abdullah, from one share; because it is the entire wealth.
