Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Muawiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: When Allah intends good for someone, He grants him the understanding of religion.

Hazrat Muhammad bin Ka'b Qurazi says that I heard Hazrat Muawiyah bin Abi Sufyan saying in a sermon: "I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) sitting upon these wooden steps and saying: O Allah! There is no one who can withhold what You give, and there is no one who can give what You withhold. Allah Almighty, when He intends good for someone, grants him understanding of the religion."

Abu Ubaidah narrates that Hazrat Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Whomever Allah intends good for, He grants him understanding of the religion.

It is narrated from Abu Sufyan that Hazrat Ubaid bin Umair said: When Allah Almighty intends good for a servant, He grants him understanding of the religion and places the matter of his well-being in his heart.

It is narrated from Musa bin Ubaidah that Muhammad bin Ka'b (may Allah be pleased with him) said: When Allah Almighty intends good for a servant, He grants him understanding of the religion, makes him uninterested in the world, and shows him the evils of the world. And whoever is given these things has attained the good of this world and the Hereafter.
