Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Yasar bin Abi Karib narrates from Hazrat Shurayh that he gave a verdict regarding a man who had made a bequest of an unspecified portion of his wealth for someone, and the wealth was not defined. He said: The wealth should be divided into portions, and the one for whom the bequest was made should also be given one portion.

Sufyan narrates from a Khurasani that Hazrat Ikrimah said: This man will get nothing because this is an unknown bequest.

Muhammad bin Suhaib narrates that Hazrat Ikrimah said regarding the man who made a bequest of a portion of his wealth for someone, that such a bequest has no validity because he did not specify the amount of wealth.

Ayyub narrates that Hazrat Iyas bin Muawiyah said: The Arabs used to say that this man will receive one-sixth.

It is narrated from Huzail that a man made a will for a portion of his wealth for someone, but did not specify the amount, so Hazrat Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: He is entitled to one-sixth.

It is narrated from Humaid that 'Adi asked Hazrat Iyas bin Mu'awiyah about this matter, so he said, "In the idioms of the Arabs, 'hissa' refers to one-sixth."
