Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Usman narrates that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: The best among you is the one who learns the Qur'an and teaches it.

Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The best among you is the one who learns the Qur'an and teaches it.

Hazrat Abu Hurairah narrates that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: Does any one of you like that when he returns to his home, he finds three fat, large, pregnant she-camels? Abu Hurairah says: All of us said, "Yes!" The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: If any one of you recites three verses in his prayer, it is better for him than three fat, large, pregnant she-camels.

Hazrat Uqbah bin Amir narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) came to us while we were in Suffah. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Which one of you would like to go early in the morning to the place of Bathan or Aqeeq and bring back two she-camels, the best among them, without committing any sin or severing ties of kinship?" The companions replied, "O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! All of us would like that." He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Going to the mosque and reciting or teaching two verses is better than two she-camels, and three verses are better than three she-camels, and likewise four verses are better than four she-camels, and better than their number in camels."

Hazrat Abu Al-Ahwas narrates that Hazrat Abdullah bin Mas’ud (may Allah be pleased with him) said: If five young camels were allotted to each one of you on the condition that he performs the morning prayer at his place, then surely he would say to his family, “How is it possible for me not to go?” By Allah! If any one of you sits and learns five verses from the Book of Allah, it is better for him than five young camels and she-camels.

Hazrat Abu Ubaidah narrates that his father, Hazrat Abdullah bin Masood (may Allah be pleased with him), was teaching the Qur'an when he passed by a verse and said to a man: "Hold on to this verse. By Allah, this verse is superior to all things present on the earth." So the man thought that only this verse was meant, to the extent that he told everyone the same.
