Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Qatadah narrates that when Hazrat Anas would complete the recitation of the Qur'an, he would gather all his family members for supplication.

Hazrat Mas'ar states that Hazrat Abdur Rahman bin Aswad said; It is mentioned that supplication should be made upon the completion of the Qur'an.

Hazrat Hakam narrates that Hazrat Mujahid and Hazrat Abda bin Abu Lubabah and others used to recite the Qur'an. So, on the day they intended to complete the Qur'an, they would send a messenger to me and to Hazrat Salamah bin Khayl, inviting us, and would say: We have been reciting the Qur'an and today we intend to complete it; we wish that you also be present with us. Because it is said that when the Qur'an is completed, at the time of its completion mercy descends, or he said: at the time of its completion mercy is present.

Hazrat Awam bin Houshab narrates that Hazrat Musayyib bin Rafi used to complete the Qur'an in three days. And on the day he completed it, he would be fasting in the morning of that day.

Hazrat Hakam states that Hazrat Mujahid said: Mercy descends at the time of completing the Qur'an.

A person narrates that when Hazrat Abu Al-Aaliyah intended to complete the Qur'an, if it was the latter part of the day, he would postpone it until the evening. And when he intended to complete it and it was the latter part of the night, he would postpone it until the morning.
