Supplication and Words to Say After Completing Wudu
Hadith 31884
٣١٨٨٤ - حدثنا وكيع عن سفيان عن أبي هاشم الواسطي عن أبي مجلز عن قيس بن عباد عن أبي سعيد الخدري قال: من قال إذا فرغ من وضوئه: سبحانك اللهم وبحمدك، أشهد أن لا إله إلا أنت، أستغفرك وأتوب إليك، ختمت بخاتم، ثم رفعت تحت العرش فلم يكسر إلى يوم القيامة (١).
Hazrat Qais bin Abad narrates that Hazrat Abu Saeed Khudri said: Whoever, after completing ablution, recites these words: "Glory is to You, O Allah! And all praise is for You. I bear witness that there is no deity worthy of worship except You. I seek Your forgiveness and turn to You in repentance." — then a seal is placed upon these words and they are raised up beneath the Throne, and they will not be broken until the Day of Resurrection.
Hadith 31885
٣١٨٨٥ - حدثنا عبد اللَّه بن نمير وعبد اللَّه بن داود عن الأعمش عن إبراهيم بن المهاجر عن سالم بن أبي الجعد قال: كان علي يقول إذا فرغ من وضوئه: أشهد أن لا إله إلا اللَّه وأشهد أن محمدا عبده ورسوله، رب اجعلني من التوابين واجعلني من المتطهرين (١).
Hazrat Salim bin Abi Al-Ja'd narrates that Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) used to supplicate as follows after completing ablution: I bear witness that there is no deity worthy of worship except Allah. And I bear witness that Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) is Allah's servant and His messenger. My Lord, make me among those who repent, and make me among those who purify themselves.
Hadith 31886
٣١٨٨٦ - حدثنا زيد بن الحباب قال: حدثنا عمرو (بن) (١) (عبد اللَّه) (٢) بن وهب النخعي عن زيد العمي عن أنس بن مالك عن النبي ﷺ قال: "من توضأ فقال: أشهد أن لا إله إلا اللَّه وحده لا شريك له وأشهد أن محمدا عبده ورسوله ⦗٣٨٤⦘ (ثلاث مرات) (٣)، فتحت له ثمانية أبواب (٤) الجنة يدخل من أيها شاء" (٥).
Hazrat Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever performs ablution and then recites these words three times: I bear witness that there is no deity except Allah, He is alone, He has no partner. And I bear witness that Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) is Allah’s servant and His Messenger. Then all eight gates of Paradise are opened for him; he may enter Paradise through whichever gate he wishes.
Hadith 31887
٣١٨٨٧ - حدثنا أبو عبد الرحمن (المقرئ) (١) عن سعيد بن (أبي) (٢) أيوب قال: حدثني زهرة بن (٣) معبد أبو عقيل أن ابن عم له أخبره أنه سمع عقبة بن عامر يقول: قال رسول اللَّه ﷺ: "من توضأ فأتم وضوءه، ثم رفع رأسه إلى السماء، فقال: أشهد أن لا إله إلا اللَّه وحده لا شريك له وأن محمدا عبده ورسوله، فتحت له ثمانية أبواب (من) (٤) الجنة يدخل من أيها شاء" (٥).
Hazrat Uqbah bin Amir narrates that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: Whoever performs ablution and completes the ablution well, then raises his head towards the sky and recites these words: I bear witness that there is no deity worthy of worship except Allah, He is alone, He has no partner, and indeed Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) is His servant and His Messenger. Then all eight gates of Paradise are opened for him; he may enter Paradise through whichever gate he wishes.
Hadith 31888
٣١٨٨٨ - حدثنا عبدة بن سليمان عن جويبر عن الضحاك قال: كان حذيفة إذا تطهير قال: أشهد أن لا إله إلا اللَّه وأشهد أن محمدًا عبده ورسوله، اللهم اجعلني من التوابين واجعلني من المتطهرين (١).
Hazrat Dahhak narrates that when Hazrat Hudhaifah (may Allah be pleased with him) performed ablution, he would recite these words: I bear witness that there is no deity worthy of worship except Allah. And I also bear witness that Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) is His servant and Messenger. O Allah! Make me among those who repent, and make me among those who are pure and clean.
