Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Jabir says that neither the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), nor Hazrat Abu Bakr, nor Hazrat Umar made anything specific apparent for us regarding the funeral prayer.

Hazrat Abdullah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates from thirty companions of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) that he did not specify anything in the funeral prayer.

Hazrat A'mash says that Ibrahim said: There is no specific supplication prescribed in the prayer offered over the deceased.

Dawud narrates that Hazrat Saeed bin Al-Musayyib and Hazrat Shabi said: There is no specific supplication prescribed in the funeral prayer.

Hazrat Imran bin Hadeer narrates that I asked Muhammad about the funeral prayer: so he said: We do not know that any specific supplication has been fixed in it; supplicate with any good supplication that you know.

Hazrat Ishaq bin Suwaid narrates that Hazrat Bakr bin Abdullah said: Nothing specific has been prescribed in the funeral prayer.

Musa al-Juhani narrates that I asked Hazrat Sha'bi, Hazrat Hakam, and Hazrat Ata, Hazrat Mujahid: Is there anything fixed in the funeral prayer? All these respected persons replied: No! Indeed, you are an intercessor. Intercede with whatever supplication you know best.
