Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Aswad and Hazrat Alqamah narrate that Hazrat Abdullah said: There are two verses in the Book of Allah; if any servant commits a sin and then recites these two verses and seeks forgiveness from Allah, Allah Almighty forgives him. (Ayah: And those who, when they commit an open sin or wrong themselves...) up to the end of the verse, (Ayah: And whoever does an evil deed or wrongs himself...).

Hazrat Shaqiq narrates that Hazrat Abdullah used to supplicate as follows: O our Lord! Bring reconciliation among us, and guide us to the paths of peace, and bring us out from the darkness of misguidance to the light of guidance, and turn away from us all indecencies, whether apparent or hidden, and grant blessings in our ears, our eyes, our hearts, our wives, and our children. Surely, You are the Acceptor of repentance, the Most Merciful, and make us among those who are grateful for Your blessings, who praise You for them, who remember them, and perfect Your blessings upon us.

Hazrat Abu Wa'il narrates that Hazrat Abdullah used to supplicate: O Allah! Bring reconciliation among us. Then the narrator mentioned the rest of the hadith as A'mash did.

Hazrat Aswad bin Yazid narrates that Hazrat Abdullah said that Allah says: Whoever has any covenant with Me, let him stand. His students submitted: O Abu Abdur Rahman, then please teach us this as well. He said: All of you recite these words: O Allah! Creator of the heavens and the earth, Knower of the seen and the unseen, surely I make a covenant with You in this worldly life. Surely, if You entrust me to my deeds, You bring me near to evil and distance me from good. And surely, I have no trust except in Your mercy, so keep my covenant with You, which is to be fulfilled on the Day of Resurrection. Surely, You do not break Your promise.

Hazrat Abu Al-Ahwas narrates that when Hazrat Abdullah bin Masood (may Allah be pleased with him) would pray for his students, he would say: O Allah! Guide us, and make Your guidance easy for us. O Allah! Make our ease even easier, and keep us away from hardship. And make us among the wise. O Allah! Grant us happiness, comfort, and peace, and clothe us in sundus and silk, and adorn us with jewelry. O True Deity! O Allah! Make us grateful for Your blessings, make us those who praise You through them, and those who remember them, and accept our repentance. Surely, You are the Acceptor of repentance, the Most Merciful.

Hazrat Harith bin Suwaid narrates that Hazrat Abdullah said: The most beloved words to Allah are that a servant supplicates in this way: O Allah! I acknowledge Your blessings and I also acknowledge my sins, so forgive me, for surely none forgives sins except You.

Hazrat Ma'n narrates that Hazrat Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) used to supplicate as follows: O Allah! Help me against the terrors of the world, and against the hardships of the times, and against the calamities of day and night, and suffice me against the evil of the deeds of the oppressors in the land. O Allah! Be my companion and friend in my travels, and be my deputy in my stay, and make me beloved to You, and make me honorable in the eyes of people, and mention me in Your own Self, and make my soul humble before You, and keep me away from bad character. O Most Merciful! To whom will You entrust me? You are my Lord—will it be to someone distant who will frown upon me, or to someone near to whom You will hand over the reins of my affairs?

Hazrat Abu Ubaidah narrates that when Hazrat Abdullah bin Mas'ud would strive greatly in supplication, he would say: O Allah! I ask You by the blessing of that grace with which You have shown kindness to me, and by the blessing of that good trial with which You have tested me, and by the blessing of those bounties which You have bestowed upon me, that You admit me into Paradise. O Allah! Admit me into Paradise by Your mercy, by Your forgiveness, and by Your grace.

Hazrat Qasim bin Abdur Rahman narrates that Hazrat Abdullah bin Masood (may Allah be pleased with him) said: No servant supplicates with these words except that Allah grants abundance in his livelihood. O Bestower of favors! None can bestow favor upon You. O Possessor of Majesty and Honor, O Most Merciful, there is no deity except You. Helper of those who seek help, Refuge of those who seek refuge, and Giver of security to those who fear, if You have written me as wretched and unfortunate in the Mother of the Book with You, then erase my wretchedness from me, and write me as fortunate with You. And if You have written my sustenance as restricted in the Mother of the Book, then erase my deprivation and restriction of sustenance from me, and write me as fortunate with You, one who has been granted the ability to do good. For surely, You have stated in Your Book: Allah erases what He wills and confirms what He wills, and with Him is the Mother of the Book.

Hazrat Abu Ubaidah narrates that Hazrat Abdullah bin Masood (may Allah be pleased with him) was asked: What is that supplication which you made on the night when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said to you: "Ask, you will be granted"? He replied: I recited this supplication: O Allah! I ask You for such faith after which there is no disbelief, and for such a blessing which never ends, and for the companionship of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) in the highest rank of Paradise forever.

Hazrat Husain bin Yazid al-Thalabi narrates that Hazrat Abdullah bin Mas’ud (may Allah be pleased with him), when he finished the prayer, used to supplicate as follows: O Allah! I ask You for all those means which are necessary for Your mercy, and those means by which Your forgiveness becomes certain, and I ask You for a share of every good as a bounty. O Allah! I ask You for the success of Paradise, and freedom from Hell. O Allah! Do not leave any sin except that You forgive it, nor any worry except that You relieve it, nor any need except that You fulfill it.

Hazrat Abu Al-Ahwas narrates that Hazrat Abdullah bin Masood (may Allah be pleased with him) used to supplicate as follows: O Allah! Clothe us with the garment of piety, and make the word of piety obligatory upon us. And make us among the wise, and grant us death at the time when You are pleased with us, and admit us into Jannat al-Ma'wa, and make us among those who did good deeds, adopted piety, spoke the truth with goodness, and restrained their souls from desires. And make us among those for whom You made things easy, and removed hardship from them. And make us among those who took admonition, so the admonition benefited them. O Allah! Fill our efforts with gratitude. And forgive our sins, and meet us in a state of happiness and joy, and clothe us with garments of sundus and silk, and adorn us with ornaments of gold, pearls, and silk.
