Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Abdullah bin Salamah narrates that Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) used to supplicate as follows: O Allah! Grant us steadfastness with contentment, correctness, and the true Book upon the word of justice, which is the guide to the path of guidance, guided, pleasing and pleased, which neither goes astray nor leads others astray.

Hazrat Waleed bin Abu Waleed narrates that Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) used to say in his supplication three times: O Allah! I ask You by Your mercy with which You encompass everything, and by Your might with which You have subdued everything, and everything has humbled itself before You and everything has become insignificant before You. And by Your power with which You have prevailed over everything. And by Your greatness with which You have dominated everything, and by Your sovereignty with which You have filled everything, and by Your strength before which nothing can stand. And by Your light with which You have illuminated everything. And by Your knowledge which has encompassed everything, and by Your name with which everything begins, and by Your blessed face which will remain after everything perishes. O Giver of light, O One free from all defects, O Giver of light, O One free from all defects, (he would say this three times) O the First among the first, and O the Last among the last! And O Allah! O Most Merciful, O Most Compassionate, forgive me those sins because of which You send down punishments, and forgive me those sins because of which You remove protection, and also forgive me those sins because of which You make one inherit regret. And also forgive me those sins because of which You withhold destiny. And also forgive me those sins because of which You change blessings, and also forgive me those sins because of which You send down calamities and afflictions, and give dominance to enemies, and also forgive me those sins because of which You withhold the rain of the sky, and You hasten destruction, and You wrong the soul, and You reject supplication, and also forgive me those sins because of which You return one to Hell.

Hazrat Abdullah Asadi narrates from a person that Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) used to supplicate as follows: O Allah! O Spreader of the outstretched earths, Builder of the constructed buildings, Planter of the mountains, and Strengthener of the hearts by force upon their nature regarding their wretchedness and blessedness, and the One Who expands mercy for the pious and God-fearing—send down Your greatest special mercies and increasing blessings, and Your great kindness, and Your pure, compassionate mercies upon Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), who is Your servant and Your Messenger, and the Opener of that happiness which was closed, and the Completer of that religion which became dominant, and the One Who made the truth prevail with peace, and the Breaker of those armies that are upon falsehood, just as You sent him to break them, so he became ready by Your command, seeking help in Your pleasure, with unrestricted cheese, and with intention without laziness (meaning, in rising to break the armies of the disbelievers, he did not show any negligence), keeping his gaze towards Your revelation, guarding Your support, spending time in the execution of Your command, until he illuminated the flame of Islam’s light for those who seek light. Allah’s blessings join its means to those who are the people of this occupation (meaning, they benefit from it). Through you alone, hearts received guidance after drowning in their trials and sins, and you made manifest the clear signs even clearer, and the radiant commands of Islam, and the lights of Islam. So you alone are the trustworthy one worthy of reliance, and you alone are the witness on the Day of Judgment, and in Your sent mercy for all the worlds. O Allah! Expand his place near You and grant him, after Your pleasure, such pleasure that is from the success of Your reward, and Your great recompense that is given for a reason. O Allah, fulfill Your promise made to him, raise him to the station of intercession, make the testimony of justice accepted, and make every statement of his in accordance with Your pleasure, and make him the possessor of justice, and make him such an orator who distinguishes between truth and falsehood, and make him one with great proof. O Allah! Make us among those who listen, then among those who obey, and among the friends of the sincere, and among the companions of Your companions. O Allah! Convey to him our salutations, and return from him to us salutations.

Hazrat Abu Ja’far Muhammad Basri narrates from that man who was called Salim that it is from the supplications of Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him): O Allah! Make me among those whose deeds You are pleased with, whose hopes You have made small, whose lives You have lengthened, and to whom You will grant a pure life and pure sustenance after death. O Allah! I ask You for such a blessing that never ends, and such happiness that never returns, and the companionship of Your Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) and Ibrahim in the highest, everlasting ranks of Paradise. O Allah! Grant me such a corner in which my heart becomes enlightened, tears flow from my eyes, my body trembles, my side separates from the bed, and I find benefit in my heart from it. O Allah! Purify my heart from hypocrisy, my chest from malice, my deeds from showing off, my eyes from treachery, my tongue from lying, and grant blessing in my hearing and my heart. And accept my repentance. Surely, You are the Acceptor of repentance, the Most Merciful. O Allah! I seek refuge in the honor of Your Face, which has illuminated the seven heavens, by which darknesses have been removed, and by which the affairs of the first and the last have been set right, from Your wrath descending upon me, or Your displeasure befalling me, from turning away from Your guidance and following my desires, or from saying to the disbelievers that they are more rightly guided than the believers. O Allah! Be merciful, kind, and compassionate to me, and be my supporter in my need. O Allah! Forgive me, O Forgiver, accept my repentance, O Acceptor of repentance, have mercy on me, O Most Merciful, and pardon me, O Forbearing One. O my God! Grant me sustenance sufficient for my needs, grant me the ability to strive in worship, and inspire me to bear witness before You in such a way that its glad tidings surpass its hardship, and its joy surpasses its sorrow. O my Lord, grant me radiance, delight, and comfort at the time of death, and ease in death. O Allah! Make me steadfast in the grave. Show me the scene of my liking in my home. Brighten my face on the Day of Resurrection. Make my speech firm. Cool my eyes. Fulfill my wishes. Cast a merciful glance upon me on the Day of Resurrection. By Your blessing, good deeds are completed. O Allah! I am weak and You have created me in a state of weakness. The real desire is Yours, so guide me to the straight path of Your desire.

Hazrat Rabi’ bin Hirash narrates that Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) said: There are no words more beloved to Allah than these words, that a servant says: O Allah! There is no deity worthy of worship except You. O Allah! I worship no one except You. O Allah! I do not associate anything with You. O Allah! Indeed, I have wronged myself, so forgive my sins, for surely no one can forgive sins except You.
