Hadith 31459
Hazrat Sha’bi narrates that Hazrat Umar went out to supplicate for rain and ascended the pulpit and recited these verses: Seek forgiveness from your Lord, surely He is Most Forgiving, He will send down upon you abundant rain from the sky, and will grant you wealth and children, and will provide for you gardens and will cause rivers to flow for you, and seek forgiveness from your Lord. Then he descended from the pulpit. So it was said to him: O Commander of the Faithful! If only you had also asked for rain. He replied: Indeed, I have sought water through the means by which drops of water are sent down from the sky.
Hadith 31460
Hazrat Abu Marwan, on the authority of his father, narrates that we went out with Hazrat Umar bin Khattab to pray for rain, and he did not do more than seeking forgiveness (he did not make any supplication other than seeking forgiveness).
Hadith 31461
Hazrat Abu Sadiq Al-Naji narrates that Hazrat Sulaiman bin Dawood went out with the people to pray for rain. On the way, they passed by an ant that was lying on its back, with its legs raised towards the sky, and it was supplicating: "O Allah! We too are one of Your creations. We are not at all independent of Your sustenance. Either grant us water or destroy us." So Hazrat Sulaiman said to the people: "Return! You have been given water by the supplication of another."
