Hadith 31362
٣١٣٦٢ - حدثنا وكيع حدثنا سفيان قال: حدثني عمرو بن مرة عن عبد اللَّه بن الحارث المكتب عن (طليق) (١) بن قيس الحنفي عن ابن عباس أن النبي ﷺ كان يقول في دعائه: "رب (أعني) (٢) ولا تعن علي، وانصرني ولا تنصر علي، وامكر لي ولا تمكر علي، واهدني ويسر الهدى لي وانصرني على من بغى علي، رب اجعلني (لك) (٣) شكارا، لك ذكارا، لك رهابا، لك مطيعا، إليك مخبتا، إليك اواها منيبًا، رب تقبل توبتي، واغسل حوبتي، وأجب دعوتي، واهد قلبي، وثبت حجتي، (وسدد) (٤) لساني، (واسلل) (٥) (سخيمة) (٦) قلبي" (٧).
Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to recite these words in his supplication: O my Lord! Help me, and do not help against me, and grant me victory, and do not grant victory over me. And plan for me, and do not plan against me. And guide me, and make guidance easy for me. And grant me victory over the one who transgresses against me. O my Lord! Make me one who is greatly thankful to You, and one who remembers You much, and one who greatly fears You, and one who is obedient to You, humble before You, one who supplicates to You and turns to You in repentance. O my Lord! Accept my repentance, and wash away my sins, and accept my supplication, and guide my heart, and make firm my proof, and make my tongue straight, and remove malice and hatred from my heart.
Hadith 31363
٣١٣٦٣ - حدثنا (معتمر) (١) بن سليمان عن عباد بن عباد عن أبي مجلز عن أبي موسى قال: أتيت النبي ﷺ بوضوء فتوضأ وصلى ثم قال: "اللهم اغفر لي ذنبي ⦗٢٠٠⦘ ووسع لي في (داري) (٢) وبارك لي في رزقي" (٣).
Hazrat Abu Musa narrates that I brought water for ablution to the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). So he performed ablution and offered prayer. Then he said: O Allah! Forgive my sins. And grant abundance in my home, and bless my sustenance for me.
Hadith 31364
٣١٣٦٤ - (١) حدثنا محمد بن عبد اللَّه الأسدي عن شريك عن أبي إسحاق عن أبي بردة عن أبي موسى قال: كان النبي ﷺ يدعو بهؤلاء الدعوات: "اللهم اغفر لي خطيئتي وجهلي وإسرافي في أمري وما أنت أعلم به مني، اللهم اغفر لي جدي وهزلي وخطأي و (عمدي) (٢) وكل ذلك عندي" (٣).
Hazrat Abu Musa narrated that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to supplicate with these words: O Allah! Forgive my mistakes, and my ignorance, and my excesses in my affairs, which You know better than I do. O Allah, forgive my seriousness and my jest, and my intentional and unintentional errors. And all these things are from me.
Hadith 31365
٣١٣٦٥ - حدثنا عبد اللَّه بن نمير عن موسى بن عبيدة عن محمد بن ثابت عن أبي هريرة قال: كان النبي ﷺ يقول: "اللهم انفعني بما علمتني وعلمني ما ينفعني وزدني علمًا والحمد للَّه على كل (حال) (١) وأعوذ (٢) من عذاب النار" (٣).
Hazrat Abu Huraira narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to supplicate as follows: O Allah! Grant me benefit from what You have taught me. And teach me that which will benefit me. And increase me in knowledge. And all praise is for Allah in every circumstance. And I seek Allah’s protection from the punishment of Hell.
Hadith 31366
٣١٣٦٦ - حدثنا الحسن بن موسى ثنا حماد بن سلمة عن سعيد الجريري عن أبي العلاء عن عثمان بن أبي العاص وامرأة من قيس أنهما سمعا النبي ﷺ قال ⦗٢٠١⦘ أحدهما: سمعته يقول: "اللهم اغفر لي ذنبي وخطاياي وعمدي"، وقال الآخر: سمعته يقول: "اللهم (إني) (١) استهديك لأرشد أمري، وأعوذ بك من شر نفسي" (٢).
It is narrated from Hazrat Uthman bin Abi Al-Aas and a woman from the tribe of Qais, both of whom heard the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). One of them said: I heard the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) saying: O Allah! Forgive my sins and also forgive the sins I committed by mistake and knowingly. And the other says: I heard the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) saying: O Allah! I seek guidance from You for my correct affairs, and I seek refuge in You from the evil of my own self.
Hadith 31367
٣١٣٦٧ - حدثنا محمد بن بشر حدثنا مسعر حدثنا محمد بن عبد الرحمن عن أبي (رشدين) (١) عن ابن عباس عن جويرية قالت: مر بها رسول اللَّه ﷺ صلاة الغداة أو بعد ما صلى الغداة وهي تذكر اللَّه فرجع حين ارتفع النهار -أو قال: انتصف النهار- وهي كذلك فقال: "لقد قلت منذ قمت (عليك) (٢) أربع كلمات ثلاث مرات هي أكثر (و) (٣) أرجح -أو أوزن- مما قلت، سبحان اللَّه عدد خلقه (٤)، سبحان اللَّه زنة عرشه، سبحان اللَّه مداد كلماته" (٥).
Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that Hazrat Ummul Momineen Hazrat Juwayriya said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) passed by me at the time of the morning prayer or after having performed the morning prayer, while I was engaged in the remembrance of Allah. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) returned when the day had advanced, or he said: when half the day had passed, and I was still in the same state. Upon this, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: When I left you, I recited four phrases three times, which are greater and more rewarding—or he said: heavier in weight—than all that you have recited. And they are: Glory is to Allah as many times as the number of His creation; Glory is to Allah as much as pleases Him; Glory is to Allah as heavy as His Throne; Glory is to Allah as much as the ink of His words.
Hadith 31368
٣١٣٦٨ - حدثنا عبيدة بن حميد عن حميد عن الحسن البصري قال: كان يقول: كان النبي ﷺ (يدعو) (١): "اللهم اغفر لي اللهم ارحمني اللهم اهدني اللهم سددني اللهم عافني اللهم ارزقني" (٢).
It is narrated from Hasan Basri that he used to say: The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) used to supplicate as follows: O Allah! Forgive me! O Allah! Have mercy on me. O Allah! Grant me guidance. O Allah! Show me the straight path. O Allah! Grant me well-being. O Allah! Provide me with sustenance.
Hadith 31369
٣١٣٦٩ - حدثنا محمد بن بشر حدثنا مسعر (عن) (١) حبيب بن أبي ثابت عن رجل عن سعيد بن جبير أن النبي ﷺ قال: "اللهم ارزقنا من فضلك ولا تحرمنا رزقك، وبارك لنا فيما رزقتنا، واجعل رغبتنا فيما عندك، واجعل غنانا في أنفسنا" (٢).
It is narrated from Hazrat Saeed bin Jubair that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: O Allah! Grant us sustenance from Your bounty. And do not deprive us of Your sustenance. And bless for us what You have provided us. And grant us eagerness for that which is with You. And place contentment in our souls.
Hadith 31370
٣١٣٧٠ - حدثنا محمد بن بشر حدثنا مسعر عن أبي مصعب عن علي بن حسين وغيره (قالا) (١): كان رسول اللَّه ﷺ يقول: "اللهم أقلني عثرتي، واستر عورتي، وآمن روعتي، واكفني من بغى عليّ، وانصرني ممن ظلمني، وأرني ثأري فيه" (٢).
Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him), Ibn Hussain, and other companions narrate: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to supplicate as follows: O Allah! Remove my slips. And conceal my faults. And replace my fear with security. And suffice me against the one who rebels against me. And help me against the one who oppresses me.
Hadith 31371
٣١٣٧١ - حدثنا الفضل بن دكين حدثنا عبد اللَّه بن عامر عن (سهيل) (١) عن أبيه عن أبي هريرة عن النبي ﷺ أنه كان يقول: "اللهم إني أسألك بأنك الأول فلا شيء قبلك، والآخر فلا شيء بعدك، والظاهر فلا شيء فوقك، والباطن فلا شيء دونك، أن تقضي عنا الدين وأن تغنينا من الفقر" (٢).
Hazrat Abu Huraira narrated that the Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, used to supplicate as follows: O Allah! I ask You because You are the First; there is nothing before You. And You are the Last; there is nothing after You. And You are the Most High; there is nothing above You. And You are the Most Hidden; there is nothing beyond You. So, settle our debts for us, and free us from poverty.
Hadith 31372
٣١٣٧٢ - حدثنا عفان (حدثنا) (١) حماد بن سلمة أخبرنا هشام بن عروة عن ⦗٢٠٣⦘ محمد بن المنكدر أن رسول اللَّه ﷺ كان يقول: "اللهم أعني على (ذكرك وشكرك) (٢) وحسن (عبادتك) (٣)، وأعوذ بك أن يغلبني دين (أو) (٤) عدو، وأعوذ بك من غلبة الرجال" (٥).
Hazrat Jabir bin Al-Munkadir narrated that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, used to supplicate as follows: O Allah! Help me to remember You, to thank You, and to worship You in a good manner. And I seek Your refuge from being overcome by debt or any enemy. And I seek Your refuge from being overpowered by people.
Hadith 31373
٣١٣٧٣ - حدثنا الفضل بن دكين عن إسماعيل بن عبد الملك عن علي بن (ربيعة) (١) قال: حملني عليٌ خلفه ثم سار (في) (٢) جانب الحرة ثم رفع رأسه إلى السماء فقال: اللهم اغفر لي ذنوبي إنه لا يغفر الذنوب أحد غيرك، ثم التفت إلى فضحك، (قلت) (٣): يا أمير المؤمنين استغفارك ربك والتفاتك إليَّ تضحك؟ قال: (حملني) (٤) رسول اللَّه ﷺ خلفه ثم سار بي (في) (٥) جانب الحرة ثم رفع رأسه إلى السماء فقال: "اللهم اغفر لي ذنوبي، إنه لا يغفر الذنوب أحد غيرك"، ثم التفت إليَّ فضحك، فقلت: يا رسول اللَّه، استغفارك (ربك) (٦) والتفاتك إليَّ تضحك؟ ⦗٢٠٤⦘ قال: " (ضحكت) (٧) لضحك ربي لعجبه لعبده أنه يعلم أنه لا يغفر الذنوب أحد غيره" (٨).
Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) bin Rabi’ah narrates that the Commander of the Faithful seated me behind him on his mount, then proceeded towards the place of Harrah. Then he raised his head towards the sky and recited this supplication: “Forgive my sins, for surely none can forgive sins except You.” Then he turned towards me and began to smile. Upon this, I said, “O Commander of the Faithful! You sought forgiveness for your sins from your Lord, and then turned towards me and smiled—why?” He replied: “The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) seated me behind him on his mount, then took me towards the place of Harrah. Then, in the same manner, he raised his head towards the sky and recited this supplication: ‘O Allah! Forgive my sins, for surely none can forgive sins except You.’ Then he turned towards me and began to smile. Upon this, I said, ‘O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! You sought forgiveness from your Lord, and then turned towards me and smiled—why?’ He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: ‘I smiled because of my Lord’s smiling, for Allah is amazed at His servant who knows that none can forgive sins except Allah.’”
