Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Umm Salamah narrates that when the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would leave the house, he would supplicate as follows: O Allah! I seek refuge in You from slipping or being led astray, or from doing injustice to someone or having injustice done to me, or from acting ignorantly towards someone or someone acting ignorantly towards me.

With this chain of narration from Hazrat Umm Salamah, a narration with content similar to the previous hadith is reported.

Hazrat Abu Saeed narrates that when a person goes for prayer and recites this supplication: O Allah! I ask You by the right that those who ask have upon You, and by the right of my walking (to the mosque). I have not come out in pride, nor with arrogance, nor for show, nor for seeking fame. I have come out seeking Your pleasure and to protect myself from Your displeasure. And I ask You to save me from Hell and to forgive my sins. Surely, none forgives sins except You. Then Allah Almighty turns His face towards that servant until he returns, and Allah Almighty appoints seventy thousand angels who keep seeking forgiveness for that person.

Hazrat Ka'b narrates that when a person leaves his house, many devils greet him. But when he says: "I leave the house in the name of Allah," the angels say: "You have been guided." And when that person says: "I put my trust in Allah," the angels say: "You have been sufficed." And when that person says: "The power to avoid sins and to worship comes only from Allah," the angels say: "You have been protected." Then the devils say to each other: "How can you overpower a person who has been sufficed, guided, and protected?"

Hazrat Ka'b Ahbar says that when a person leaves his house and says these words: I leave the house in the name of Allah, and I have placed my trust in Allah alone, and the ability to avoid sins and to do good deeds is only from Allah, then the devils meet each other and say: This person has been guided. And he has been protected, and he has been sufficed, so you have no authority over him. Then they run away from that servant and keep away from him.
