Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Abu Bakr says that I heard the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, saying during the summer of that year: You people should ask Allah for well-being and for certainty in this world and the Hereafter.

Hazrat Abdur Rahman bin Abi Bakrah narrates that I used to hear my father recite this supplication morning and evening: "O Allah, grant me well-being in my body. O Allah, grant me well-being in my sight. There is no deity except You." So I said to my father: O dear father! I hear you recite this supplication morning and evening? He replied: O my beloved son! I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) recite this supplication, and I like to adhere to the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him).

Hazrat Abdullah bin Al-Harith narrates that Abbas said: O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), teach me something that I may ask from my Lord. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Ask your Lord for well-being in this world and the Hereafter.

Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: When a person asks Allah for something, the most beloved thing is that he asks Allah for well-being.

Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) said: If I come to know that a certain night is Laylat al-Qadr, I would ask Allah only for well-being in it.

Hazrat Abu Malik al-Ashja’i’s father narrates that he heard from the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): A man came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: When I ask my Lord, how should I supplicate? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Say: O Allah! Have mercy on me, forgive me, grant me well-being, and provide for me. And the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) gathered his four fingers together, excluding the thumb, and said: Indeed, these things encompass your religion and your worldly life. (Or, they gather together all your religious and worldly needs.)

Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) said: If I were to know which night is Laylat al-Qadr, I would abundantly supplicate on that night: I ask Allah for forgiveness and well-being.

Hazrat Abu Al-Hasan Hilal bin Yasaf narrates that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "There is an hour on Friday in which, if a Muslim servant coincides with it and asks Allah for goodness, Allah will surely grant it to him." So a man said: "O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! What should I ask for in it?" He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Ask Allah for well-being in this world and the Hereafter."
