Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Nu’man bin Bashir narrates that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: Supplication is also worship. Then he recited the verse of the Qur’an: And your Lord says, “Call upon Me; I will respond to your call.”

Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever among you understands the reality of supplication, then indeed the doors of acceptance have been opened for him.

Hazrat Abu Huraira narrates that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: Whoever does not ask from Allah, Allah becomes displeased with him.

Hazrat Abu Saeed narrates that the Prophet of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: Whenever any Muslim supplicates and there is nothing sinful or involving breaking of family ties in his supplication, Allah grants him one of three things: either He quickly fulfills his supplication, or He stores it for him in the Hereafter, or He removes from him an evil similar to it. The companions said: O Prophet of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, then we will supplicate abundantly. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: Allah will also grant abundantly.

Ibrahim Taimi says that it was said: When a person praises Allah before supplication, then surely his supplication is accepted, and when he begins supplication before praising Allah, then there is hope for the acceptance of his supplication.

Hazrat Hilal bin Yasaf says that I have heard that when a Muslim prays and that prayer is not accepted, a good deed is written for him.

Hazrat Hudhaifah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that surely a time will come upon the people when only those will attain salvation who supplicate like the supplication of a drowning person.

With this chain of narration as well, the statement of Hazrat Hudhaifa (may Allah be pleased with him) similar to the previous one is reported, but in this, in place of the supplication, the words "الَّذِی یَدْعُو" are present.

Hasan narrates that Abu Darda used to say: Strive earnestly in supplication, for whoever knocks frequently at the door, it is likely that the door will be opened for him.
