Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Abu Bakrah narrates that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, described the words for distress as follows: O Allah! I hope only for Your mercy, so do not entrust me to my own self even for the blink of an eye, and set all my affairs right for me. There is no deity except You.

Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) would say these words at the time of distress: There is no deity except Allah, the Wise, the Generous. There is no deity except Allah, the Lord of the heavens and the Lord of the Great Throne.

Hazrat Asma bint Umais narrates that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, taught me some words which I recite at times of distress and difficulty: "Allah, Allah, who is my Sustainer. I do not associate anyone with Him."

Hazrat Abu Ja'far says that the words of relief are these: There is no deity except Allah, Who is Most High and Exalted, Allah is free from all defects and is the Lord of the Noble Throne, all praise is for Allah Who is the Sustainer of all the worlds. O Allah! Forgive me and have mercy on me, and pardon me, and grant me forgiveness, for surely You are the Pardoner and the Forgiver.
