Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Muhammad bin Abdur Rahman bin Abi Dhi'b narrates from his maternal uncle that a son of Hazrat Saeed bin Musayyib was beaten for the crime of drinking alcohol and was made to be paraded around. So he (Saeed bin Musayyib) said: I do not grieve over the beating he received, but what grieves me is that he was made to be paraded around; this is something that Muslims have never done.

Hazrat 'Itab bin Salamah narrates that Hazrat 'Umar bin Khattab asked me about a man, "Did you see this person drinking alcohol?" I said, "I did not see him drinking alcohol, but I saw him vomiting alcohol." The narrator says: So he (Hazrat 'Umar) enforced the prescribed punishment on him and made him stand before the people.
