Regarding the Person Who Steals and Throws the Stolen Goods Outside, and It Is Found in the House: What Punishment Is Applied?
Hadith 30853
٣٠٨٥٣ - حدثنا أبو بكر قال: حدثنا محمد بن بكر عن ابن جريج قال: أخبرني أبو بكر بن عبد اللَّه أن خالد بن (معبد) (١) حدثه عن سعيد بن المسيب وعبيد اللَّه بن عبد اللَّه بن عتبة أنهما سئلا عن السارق يسرق فيطرح سرقته خارجًا من البيت، (ويؤخذ) (٢) في البيت الذي (سرق) (٣) فيه المتاع أعليه القطع؟ فقالا: عليه القطع.
Hazrat Khalid bin Ma'bad narrates that Hazrat Sa'id bin al-Musayyib and Hazrat 'Ubaydullah bin 'Abdullah bin 'Utbah were both asked about a thief who, after stealing, throws the stolen goods outside the house, and he is found in the house where he committed the theft. Is the punishment of cutting the hand applicable to him? Both of them replied: The punishment of cutting the hand will be applied to him.
