Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Masna states that Hazrat Amr bin Shu'aib said: When embezzled property is found with a person, he should be seized and given one hundred lashes, and his head and beard should be shaved, and whatever is in his saddle should be taken except for the animal, and his saddle should be burned, and he will never again take part among the Muslims. He said: I have been informed that Hazrat Abu Bakr Siddiq and Hazrat Umar, both of these noble persons, used to act in this manner.

Hazrat Jabir narrates that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: There will be no punishment of cutting the hand in the case of betrayal.

Hazrat Abu Zubair narrates that Hazrat Jabir said: There is no punishment of cutting the hand for betrayal.

Yunus reports that regarding the property acquired through dishonesty, it is narrated from Hasan al-Basri that when it is found with a person, he said: Its saddle should be burned.

Hazrat Umar bin Khattab narrates that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: If you find any person who has committed treachery in war booty, then burn his belongings.
