Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

The father of Qasim narrates that a man was brought to Abdullah bin Mas’ud who had been found with a woman under a single garment. So he (Abdullah bin Mas’ud) gave both of them forty lashes each. The narrator says: Then those people went to Umar to seek help against Abdullah. Umar met Abdullah bin Mas’ud and said: Some people are seeking help against you in this matter. So he informed them of the incident. Upon hearing this, Umar said to Abdullah: Is this your opinion in this matter? He replied: Yes. The people said: We came to seek help from him, but he himself is asking him for a fatwa.

The father of Hazrat Ja'far narrates that Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) said: When a man is found with a woman, each of them should be given one hundred lashes.

Hazrat Abdur Rahman bin Abi Laila narrates that a man had a servant. That man found him in bed with his wife, so Hazrat Umar gave him forty lashes.

Hazrat Zubyan bin Ammarah narrates that a man and a woman were brought to Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him), and a man said: Indeed, we found both of them on the same bed, and there was wine and the fragrance of perfume with them. Upon this, Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Both are wicked and suspicious, then he flogged both of them and did not mention the punishment.

Hazrat Jarir bin Hazim narrates that Hasan Basri said: Both of their heads will be broken and they will be flogged. Then he mentioned the number of lashes, but I could not remember it.
