Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Ibn Tawoos narrates that I asked my father, Hazrat Tawoos: A man was killed, then he forgave his blood? He replied: It is permissible. I asked: Whether it is accidental killing or intentional? He replied: Yes.

Yunus narrates that Hasan Basri used to say: When a person forgives his killer, who intentionally kills him, before his own death, then this is permissible.

Hazrat Qatadah narrates that Hazrat Urwah bin Mas'ud Thaqafi invited his people towards Allah and His Messenger (peace be upon him), so one of them shot an arrow at him, which caused his death. He had forgiven that person. Then this matter was presented before the Noble Prophet (peace be upon him), so he (peace be upon him) enforced his forgiveness and said: He is like the person mentioned in Surah Yaseen.

Hazrat Ibn Jurayj says that I heard Hazrat Ata saying: If a person who was killed by mistake forgave his blood money to the killer, then this forgiveness from his side will be valid for one third of the blood money for the killer, because this is also wealth regarding which he made a bequest.

Hazrat Samak bin Fazl narrates that Hazrat Umar bin Abdul Aziz said: It will be in one-third of the blood money.
