Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Abi Al-Muhallab narrates that Hazrat Umar said: In the case of destroying the eye of an animal, a quarter of its price will be obligatory.

Hazrat Ash'ath narrates that Hazrat Sha'bi said: In the case of destroying the eye of an animal, one must pay compensation equal to one-fourth of its value.

Hazrat Aamir Sha'bi narrates that Hazrat Umar gave the verdict of one-fourth of the animal's value regarding its eye.

Imam Sha'bi states that the judge of Basra, Hazrat Hisham bin Hubairah, wrote a letter to Judge Shurayh and asked him about the compensation required in the case of destroying the eye of an animal. He replied in writing: Indeed, the eye of an animal is worth one-fourth of its value.

Hazrat Habib narrates that Hazrat Shurayh said: In the case of the loss of an animal's eye, one-fourth of its value will be required.

Hazrat Yazid bin Waleed or Hazrat Mughira narrates that Hazrat Hammad, regarding a person who has blinded the eye of a one-eyed animal, stated that the person shall pay the price of the one-eyed animal and take the animal.

Ibrahim narrates that Shurayh said that ‘Urwah al-Bariqi came to me from ‘Umar and conveyed the message that indeed, in the case of destroying the eye of an animal, one-fourth of its value will be guaranteed as compensation.
