Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Abu Huraira narrates in a marfu’ form that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The blood of one who dies being crushed under an animal is wasted, and the blood of one who dies being crushed in a mine is also wasted, and khums (one-fifth) is obligatory in treasure.

The aforementioned statement of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) from Hazrat Abu Hurairah is also narrated through this chain of transmission, but in this chain, the words "jarraha" are not present.

Hazrat Ibn Sirin narrates that Hazrat Abu Hurairah said: The blood money (diyah) of one who dies by being crushed under an animal is forfeited, and the blood money of one who dies by being crushed in a mine is forfeited, and the blood money of one who dies by falling into a well is forfeited, and khums will be obligatory in treasure.

Hazrat Waki’ reports that Hazrat Mughira bin Abu Al-Hurr said: A camel attacked a man and killed him. Meanwhile, another man came and killed the camel. So Hazrat Shurayh annulled the blood money for the man and made that man liable for the price of the camel.

Hazrat Muammar narrates that Hazrat Zuhri said: The one who kills the animal will be held liable, and the owner of the animal will not be held liable if the animal kills someone.

Hazrat Ibn Tawoos narrates that his father, Hazrat Tawoos, said: When a bull attacks you, then kill it, and there will be no liability upon you.

Hazrat Ibn Jurayj states that Hazrat Abdul Karim said: A bull attacked a man, so the man killed it. Then this matter was presented before Hazrat Abu Bakr, so he made the man responsible for paying compensation and said, "The animal does not pay blood money."

Hazrat Aswad bin Qais narrates that Hazrat Hay said that a boy from my people went to the house of Zaid bin Suhan near his strong she-camel. The she-camel became frenzied and killed the boy. Meanwhile, the boy’s father arrived and slaughtered the she-camel. This matter was presented before Hazrat Umar, so he declared the boy's blood as forfeit and made his father liable for the price of the she-camel.

Hazrat Ash'ath narrates that Hasan Basri said regarding the person who approached an animal and then, fearing for his life, killed it, then its price will be obligatory upon him.

Hazrat Abdul Malik narrates that Hazrat Ata was asked about a man who was attacked by a bull and then he killed it with a sword; will this person be held liable? He replied: Yes. And Ibn Numair has narrated these words: That person will be held liable.
