Hazrat Huzail narrates that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: The wound caused by the leg of an animal is without liability.

Hazrat Ash'ath narrates that Hazrat Sha'bi said: The owner of the animal will be liable for any damage caused by the animal's front or back legs until the rider dismounts from the animal.

Hazrat Shu’bah says that I asked Hazrat Hakam and Hazrat Hammad about a person who was standing near his mount and his mount kicked someone with its leg. Hazrat Hammad said: This person will not be held liable. And Hazrat Hakam said: This person will be held liable.

Hazrat Asim narrates that Hazrat Ibn Sirin said: The Companions would not hold one liable in the case of being struck by an animal’s leg, except when the reins had been let go.

Hazrat Mughira narrates that Hazrat Harith said: When you strike an animal or you pull its reins to stop it, and then it causes harm to someone, then you will be held liable.
