Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Ibn Sirin states that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) placed the burden of blood money (ghurra) on the paternal relatives.

Hazrat Mughira narrates that Ibrahim said: The payment for accidental killing (ghurra) will be obligatory upon the agnatic relatives of the man.

Hazrat Ibn Salim narrates that Imam Shabi said: The penalty (ghurra) will be obligatory from the wealth of that man.

Hazrat Jabir narrates that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) placed the liability of paying the blood money (ghurra) for the child killed in a woman’s womb upon the agnatic relatives of the woman who committed the act, and absolved the husband of that woman and her son from any responsibility.

Hazrat Mughirah bin Shu’bah narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) decreed that blood money (diyah) will be obligatory upon the agnatic relatives, and in the case of miscarriage, there will be a payment of ghurrah.

Hazrat Saeed bin Musayyib narrates that Hazrat Umar fixed the payment of a *ghurra* (compensation) for the people of the towns, and a camel for those living in the wilderness.

Hazrat Qatadah states that Hasan Basri said: The blood money for a child killed in a woman's womb will be paid from the wealth of the person who caused its death, and nothing will be obligatory upon his tribe.
