Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Majliz that a man asked Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) about the compensation (diyah) for injuring the eye of a one-eyed person. Upon this, Abdullah bin Safwan said that Umar had decided for full compensation in such a case.

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Ayyaz that Uthman gave the verdict of full blood money in the case of a one-eyed man when his sound eye was injured.

Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) regarding a one-eyed man, when his sound eye is injured, said that if he wishes, he may take out the other person's eye in retaliation and take half the blood money, and if he wishes, he may take the full blood money only.

Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with both of them) said that if the eye of a one-eyed person is gouged out, then full blood money (diyah) is due for it.

It is narrated from Hazrat Lahik bin Humaid that he or someone else asked Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) about a one-eyed person, that if his sound eye is gouged out, Ibn Safwan was present with Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both), and he said that Hazrat Umar had given the verdict of full blood money (diyah) in this case. Then the questioner said, "O Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both), I am asking you." So he replied, "You are asking me, while this person is narrating to you the hadith of Umar, that he gave the verdict of full blood money in this case."

Ibrahim states that the opinion of the predecessors was that if someone destroyed the sound eye of a one-eyed person, and he had not yet received compensation for the first eye, then now he would receive the full blood money (diyah). Some people from Banu Kahil brought this case to Hazrat Uthman, and he awarded them the blood money for both eyes.

Umar bin Abdul Aziz said that if only one eye remains and then it gets injured, the full blood money (diyah) will be due for it.

Hazrat Saeed bin Musayyib said that if the eye of a one-eyed person is damaged, then full blood money (diyah) is due for it.
