Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Muhammad bin Ishaq narrates from a person who heard from Qasim bin Muhammad, when he was asked about a person who struck another man's throat, causing his voice to be lost, he replied that there is blood money (diyah) for this.

Hazrat Zaid said that if a man is killed and then he stands up, or there is a buzzing sound in his voice, or his voice becomes hoarse, then in each of these cases there will be blood money (diyah).

It is narrated from Hazrat Abdul Aziz bin Umar that the commanders of the armies have agreed, in the case of Umar bin Abdul Aziz, that when the windpipe is broken and the voice is lost, the full amount of blood money (diyah) is due.

It is narrated from Hasan that when one is no longer able to speak, then blood money (diyah) is due.
