Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Ibn Aun says that I expressed my disassociation before Hazrat Ibrahim regarding the news that had reached him about me. He said: Do not present any excuse, we have accepted your excuse, even before you presented it.

Hazrat Rafi' bin Abu Rafi' Ta'i narrates that I came to Hazrat Abu Bakr and said: Whatever command you had given me, I have fulfilled it, and wherever I was supposed to enter, I have entered. Then you kept presenting excuses continuously until I accepted your excuse.

Ibrahim narrates that Hazrat Abdullah bin Masood (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Avoid making excuses, for there is much falsehood in it.

Hazrat Tariq narrates that Imam Shabi said: Hazrat Shurayh came to us to present an excuse.

Hazrat Shu’bah narrates that I was walking with Hazrat Hakam when we saw Hazrat Abu Ma’shar. Hazrat Hakam said: Surely, he has heard something about me, that I have said something regarding him. No! By Allah, besides Whom there is no deity, I have not said any such thing. The narrator says: When Hazrat Abu Ma’shar came, Hazrat Hakam presented his excuse before him and said: Indeed, I have sworn an oath before Shu’bah that the thing which has reached you from me, I have not said it.

Imam Sha'bi says that Ibrahim came to me and he presented to me the excuse regarding what had reached me from him.
