Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Aamir narrates that Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) said: I do not mind being the tenth rider on a mount, after knowing that it has the strength to carry us.

Hazrat Ikrimah narrates that two boys from Banu Abdul Muttalib met the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), so he seated one of them in front of him and the other behind him.

Hazrat Ibn Abi Mulaika narrates that Hazrat Abdullah bin Ja'far said to Hazrat Ibn Zubair, "Do you remember when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) met me, you, and Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them)?" He replied, "Yes." So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) made both of us ride (with him) and left you."

Hazrat Abdullah bin Ja'far narrates that when the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, would return from a journey and meet us, he, peace and blessings be upon him, would meet me and either Hasan or Husayn. Then, he, peace and blessings be upon him, would seat one of us in front of him and the other behind him (on his mount) until we entered Madinah Munawwarah.

Hazrat Sufyan bin Attar narrates that I saw Imam Shabi sitting behind someone on a ride, and he was saying that the owner of the ride has more right to sit in the front.
