Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Abu Qilabah narrates that when Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) would leave his house towards the mosque, the neighbors along the way would recognize him by his fragrant scent that Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) had passed by.

Hazrat Qasim bin Abdur Rahman narrates that Hazrat Abdullah bin Masood (may Allah be pleased with him) used to apply such fragrance in which musk was mixed.

Hazrat Usman bin Ubaidullah, who was the freed slave of Hazrat Sa’d bin Abi Waqqas, narrates that I saw Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them), Hazrat Abu Hurairah, Hazrat Abu Qatadah, and Hazrat Abu Usaid Sa’idi; these noble companions would pass by us while we were in the school, and we would smell the fragrance of ‘abeer’ from them, which is a perfume mixed with saffron.

Ibrahim narrates that when the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, would arrive, a very pure fragrance would emanate from him.

Hazrat Talha bin Musarrif states that a very pleasant fragrance used to emanate from Hazrat Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him).

Hazrat Nafi’, who was the freed slave of Hazrat Abdullah bin Mas’ud (may Allah be pleased with him), narrates that Hazrat Abdullah was the most fragrant among the people and wore the cleanest white clothes.

Imam Sha'bi narrates that Hazrat Abdullah bin Ja'far would crush musk to make its powder, and then he would apply it to the upper part of his head.
