Command to Consult in Matters
Hadith 27955
٢٧٩٥٥ - حدثنا (هشيم) (١) عن علي بن زيد عن سعيد بن المسيب قال: قال رسول اللَّه ﷺ: "لن يهلك (امرؤ) (٢) بعد مشورة" (٣).
Hazrat Saeed bin Musayyib narrates that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: A person will never be ruined after consulting (seeking advice).
Hadith 27956
٢٧٩٥٦ - حدثنا (عيسى بن) (١) يونس عن الأوزاعي عن يحيى بن أبي كثير قال: قال سليمان بن (داود) (٢) (٣) لابنه: يا بني لا تقطع أمرًا حتى (تؤامر) (٤) مرشدًا، فإنك إذا فعلت (٥) لم تحزن عليه.
Hazrat Yahya bin Abi Kathir narrates that Hazrat Sulaiman bin Dawood said to his son: O my son! Do not begin any matter until you have consulted a guide; when you do so, you will never be grieved in that matter.
Hadith 27957
٢٧٩٥٧ - حدثنا وكيع عن سفيان عن رجل عن الضحاك قال: ما أمر (اللَّه) (١) نبيه بالمشاورة إلا لما (يعلم) (٢) فيها من الفضل، ثم (تلا) (٣): ﴿وَشَاوِرْهُمْ فِي الْأَمْرِ﴾ [آل عمران: ١٥٩].
Hazrat Dhahhak says that Allah, the Lord of Majesty, did not command His Prophet to consult except because Allah knew its excellence. Then he recited the verse: Translation: And consult them in matters concerning the affair.
Hadith 27958
٢٧٩٥٨ - حدثنا أبو بكر قال: حدثنا ابن إدريس عن أشعث عن الشعبي قال: إذا (اختلف الناس) (١) في شيء فانظر كيف صنع فيه عمر، فإنه كان لا يصنع (٢) شيئًا حتى (يسأل) (٣) ويشاور (٤).
Hazrat Ash'ath narrates that Imam Sha'bi said: When people differ about something, then you should see what Hazrat Umar did in that matter. Because he would not do anything until he had inquired about it and consulted regarding it.
Hadith 27959
٢٧٩٥٩ - حدثنا الفضل بن دكين عن إياس بن دغفل قال: حدثنا الحسن قال: ما (تشاور) (١) قوم إلا هدوا لأرشد أمرهم (٢).
Hazrat Iyas bin Daghfal narrates that Hasan Basri said: No people ever consulted each other except that the best solution to their issue was made clear to them.
