Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Abu Nadrah narrates that Hazrat Abu Saeed said: Relate hadiths among yourselves, for indeed, hadith encourages (the narration of) hadith.

Hazrat Abdullah bin Buraidah narrates that Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Meet with one another, and discuss hadith with each other. If you do not do so, the hadith will be lost.

Hazrat Ikrimah says: Engage in the discussion of Hadith, for indeed, discussing it is to keep it alive.

Hazrat A'mash says that Hazrat Ismail bin Raja used to come to the children who were learning to write and would present his hadiths before them so that he would not forget them.

Hazrat Isa bin Musayyib says that I heard Ibrahim saying: When you hear a hadith, then narrate it whenever you have heard it, and if it happens that you have narrated it before a person who is not desirous of it, then it will be preserved in your chest like a book.

Hazrat Yazid states that Hazrat Abdur Rahman bin Abi Laila said: The preservation of the knowledge of Hadith is in its discussion. Upon this, Hazrat Abdullah bin Shaddad said to him: How many such Ahadith are there that you have preserved in my heart.

Hazrat A'mash narrates that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: The calamity of knowledge is forgetting it, and the wasting of knowledge is to relate it before one who is unworthy.

Hazrat Qasim narrates that Hazrat Abdullah bin Masood (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The calamity of knowledge is forgetting it.
