Virtue of the intelligent over the unintelligent
Hadith 27619
٢٧٦١٩ - حدثنا عبد الأعلى عن الجريري عن أبي العلاء قال: ما أعطي عبد بعد الإسلام أفضل من عقل صالح يُرزقه.
Hazrat Jariri says that Hazrat Abu Al-Alaa said: After Islam, no servant has been given anything more excellent than good intellect, by which he earns his livelihood.
Hadith 27620
٢٧٦٢٠ - حدثنا محمد بن بشر قال: حدثنا زكريا عن عامر قال: قال عمر: حسب (المرء) (١): دينه، ومروءته: خلقه، وأصله: عقله (٢).
Hazrat Aamir narrates that Hazrat Umar said: A man's family nobility is his religion, his honor is his character, and its source is his intellect.
Hadith 27621
٢٧٦٢١ - حدثنا غندر عن شعبة عن (ابن) (١) أبي السفر عن الشعبي عن زياد ⦗٣٠٧⦘ ابن (حدير) (٢) عن عمر بنحوه (٣).
The aforementioned statement of Hazrat Umar is also transmitted through this chain of narration.
Hadith 27622
٢٧٦٢٢ - حدثنا جرير عن منصور عن مجاهد قال: ﴿فَإِنْ آنَسْتُمْ (مِنْهُمْ) (١) رُشْدًا﴾ [النساء: ١٦]، قال: عقلا.
Hazrat Mansur states that Hazrat Mujahid said: In the verse { فَإِنْ آنَسْتُمْ مِنْہُمْ رُشْدًا }, intellect is meant.
Hadith 27623
٢٧٦٢٣ - حدثنا عبد اللَّه بن نمير قال: حدثنا إسماعيل بن أبي خالد عن عامر قال: قال (عمر) (١): حسب المرء: دينه، ومروءته: خلقه، وأصله: عقله (٢).
Hazrat Aamir narrates that Hazrat Umar said: A man's family nobility is his religion, his honor is his character, and its source is his intellect.
Hadith 27624
٢٧٦٢٤ - حدثنا جرير عن قابوس عن أبيه عن ابن عباس في قوله تعالى: ﴿قَسَمٌ لِذِي حِجْرٍ﴾ [الفجر: ٥]، قال: النهي والعقل (١).
Hazrat Qaboos's father narrates that Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) said regarding the saying of Allah, the Lord of Might, { قَسَمٌ لِذِی حِجْرٍ } Translation: By oath, for those who have understanding, that what is meant are the wise and intelligent ones.
Hadith 27625
٢٧٦٢٥ - حدثنا أبو معاوية عن عاصم عن عكرمة في قوله: ﴿قَسَمٌ لِذِي حِجْرٍ﴾ قال: لذي لب (و) (١) لذي عقل.
Hazrat Asim narrates that Hazrat Ikrimah, regarding the saying of Allah, the Lord of Majesty: { قَسَمٌ لِذِی حِجْرٍ }, stated: that wise and intelligent people are meant.
Hadith 27626
٢٧٦٢٦ - حدثنا خلف [(بن) (١) خليفة عن هلال بن خباب عن مجاهد: ﴿قَسَمٌ لِذِي حِجْرٍ﴾ قال: لذي عقل.
Hazrat Hilal bin Khabbab narrates that Hazrat Mujahid said regarding the saying of Allah, the Lord of Might, { قَسَمٌ لِذِی حِجْرٍ }: that wise people are meant.
Hadith 27627
٢٧٦٢٧ - حدثنا وكيع عن سفيان، عن الأغر] (١) عن خليفة بن حصين عن أبي ⦗٣٠٨⦘ نصر عن ابن عباس ﴿قَسَمٌ لِذِي حِجْرٍ﴾: لذي لب، (لذى حجي) (٢) (٣).
Hazrat Abu Nasr narrates that Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) said regarding the saying of Allah, the Lord of Might { قَسَمٌ لِذِی حِجْرٍ }: that wise people are meant.
Hadith 27628
٢٧٦٢٨ - حدثنا (عبدة) (١) عن جويبر عن الضحاك! ﴿قَسَمٌ لِذِي حِجْرٍ﴾ قال: لذي عقل (٢).
Hazrat Juwaybir narrates that Hazrat Dahhak said regarding the saying of Allah, the Lord of Majesty { قَسَمٌ لِذِی حِجْرٍ }: that wise people are meant.
