Regarding using a cushion
Hadith 27238
٢٧٢٣٨ - حدثنا عيسى بن يونس عن أبيه عن طارق قال: كنا جلوسًا عند الشعبي فجاء جرير بن يزيد فدعا له الشعبي بوسادة فقلنا (له) (١): يا أبا ⦗٢٠٧⦘ (عمرو) (٢) (نحن) (٣) عندك أشياخ، دعوت لهذا الغلام بوسادة؟ فقال: إن رسول اللَّه ﷺ قال: "إذا أتاكم كريم قوم فأكرموه" (٤).
Hazrat Tariq narrates that we were sitting with Hazrat Sha’bi when Hazrat Jarir bin Yazid arrived. Hazrat Sha’bi had a cushion brought for him. We said to him: O Abu Amr! We are elders with you, and you are having a cushion brought for this young man? He replied: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: When an honorable person from a people comes to you, then honor him.
Hadith 27239
٢٧٢٣٩ - حدثنا وكيع عن سفيان (عن طارق) (١) عن الشعبي قال: قال رسول اللَّه ﷺ: "إذا أتاكم كريم قوم فأكرموه" (٢).
Hazrat Sha'bi narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: When an honorable person from a people comes to you, then honor him.
Hadith 27240
٢٧٢٤٠ - حدثنا عبيد اللَّه قال: أخبرنا حسن بن صالح عن عاصم قال: طرح أبو قلابة لرجل وسادة، فقال أبو قلابة: إنه كان يقال: لا ترد على أخيك كرامته.
Hazrat Asim narrates that Hazrat Abu Qilabah had a cushion placed for a man and said, or it was said, that you should not reject your brother’s act of honoring you.
Hadith 27241
٢٧٢٤١ - حدثنا حاتم بن إسماعيل عن جعفر عن أبيه قال: دخل (علي) (١) (و) (٢) رجل، فطرح لهما وسادتين، فجلس علي ولم يجلس الآخر، فقال علي: (اجلس) (٣)، لا يرد الكرامة إلا حمار (٤).
The father of Hazrat Ja'far narrates that Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) and another man came to him, so cushions were arranged for both of them. Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) sat down, but the other man did not sit. Upon this, Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Sit down, only a donkey rejects honor.
