Regarding standing up upon seeing someone
Hadith 27235
٢٧٢٣٥ - حدثنا ابن نمير عن مسعر عن أبي العنبس عن أبي (العدبس) (١) عن أبي مرزوق عن أبي غالب عن أبي أمامة قال: خرج علينا رسول اللَّه ﷺ متوكئا على عصا فقمنا إليه فقال: "لا تقوموا كلما تقوم الأعاجم يعظم (بعضها) (٢) بعضًا" (٣).
Hazrat Abu Umamah narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) came to us (in such a state that) he was leaning on a staff, so we stood up out of respect for him. Upon this, he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Do not stand up like the non-Arabs do. They show respect to one another in this manner.
Hadith 27236
٢٧٢٣٦ - حدثنا أبو أسامة عن حبيب بن شهيد عن أبي مجلز قال: دخل معاوية بيتًا فيه عبد اللَّه بن عامر وعبد اللَّه بن الزبير، فقام عبد اللَّه بن عامر ولم يقم عبد اللَّه بن ⦗٢٠٦⦘ الزبير، (فقال) (١) معاوية لابن عامر: اجلس فإني سمعت رسول اللَّه ﷺ يقول: "من سره أن يتمثل له الرجال قياما فليتبوأ مقعده من النار" (٢).
Hazrat Abu Majliz narrates that Hazrat Muawiyah entered a house in which Hazrat Abdullah bin Aamir and Hazrat Abdullah bin Zubair were present. Hazrat Abdullah bin Aamir stood up, but Hazrat Abdullah bin Zubair did not stand up. Upon this, Hazrat Muawiyah said to Hazrat Abdullah bin Aamir: Sit down, because I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: Whoever likes that people should stand up for him, he should make his abode in the Hellfire.
Hadith 27237
٢٧٢٣٧ - حدثنا (عفان) (١) قال: حدثنا حماد بن سلمة عن حميد عن أنس قال: ما كان شخص أحب إليهم من رسول اللَّه ﷺ كانوا إذا رأوه لم يقوموا لما يعلمون من كراهيته لذلك (٢).
Hazrat Humaid says that Hazrat Anas stated: Among the companions, there was no one more beloved than the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, and when they saw him, they would not stand up because they knew that he, peace and blessings be upon him, disliked this.
