Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Al-Kanood. He says that on the day of Mehran, one of the chiefs among the enemies was killed. I saw a ring on him, so I wore it. Then Hazrat Ibn Mas'ud saw it on me, took it, placed it between his two molars and broke it, then threw it towards me and said: The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade us from (wearing) gold rings.

It is narrated from Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both). He says that the Noble Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade (the use of) a gold ring.

It is narrated from Hazrat Bara. He says that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, forbade us from making gold rings.

It is narrated from Umm al-Mu’minin Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her). She says that the Negus sent a gift of jewelry to the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), among which was a gold ring with an Abyssinian stone. So the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) held that ring with a stick while turning away from it, or he held it with his finger while turning away from it. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) called his granddaughter Umamah bint Abi al-As and said: "O daughter! Wear this."

It is narrated from Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them). He says: I had a gold ring on my finger. Then Hazrat Umar bin Khattab took it. So I saw that he was looking at it. Then I let my hand hang down and he took it and then he threw it away. So I neither asked him about it nor did I search for it.

Hazrat Ja'far narrates from his father. He says that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, wore a gold ring, and when he, peace and blessings be upon him, came out to the people, they began to look at that ring. Then he, peace and blessings be upon him, placed his right hand on his little finger. After that, he, peace and blessings be upon him, returned to his house and threw it away.

Hazrat Umar bin Saeed says that my mother narrated to me from my father. He says that I went to Hazrat Umm Salamah’s house. At that time, I was a small child and I was wearing a gold ring. So Hazrat Umm Salamah said: O slave girl! Give me this ring. So she gave her the ring. She said: Take this to his family and make a silver ring for him. I said: My family has no need for it. She said: Then give it in charity and make a silver ring for him.

It is narrated from Hazrat Alqamah. He says that Hazrat Abdullah saw a gold ring on the hand of Hazrat Khabbab and said, "Has the time not yet come to throw it away?" Hazrat Khabbab replied, "Why not. You will not see it on me after this."

It is narrated from Hazrat Auf bin Malik. He says that I came to Hazrat Umar and there was a gold ring in my hand. So Hazrat Umar struck my hand with the stick that he had.

It is narrated from Hazrat Abdul Malik. He says that Hazrat Saeed bin Jubair saw a gold ring on a young man from the Ansar, so he said to him, "Do you not have a sister?" He replied, "Why not." He (Saeed bin Jubair) said, "Then give this to her."

Hazrat Mughira narrates about Hazrat Ibrahim that he disliked the gold ring.

It is narrated from Hazrat Uqbah bin Wasaj. He says that I asked Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) about gold. He replied: We used to dislike it for men.

Hazrat Waki’ narrates regarding Hazrat Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that he disliked the gold ring.

It is narrated from Ibn Sirin. He says that Hazrat Umar saw a gold ring on a man's hand, so he forbade him from it.
