Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

It is narrated from Hazrat Thabit bin Adi that he says: I have never seen Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) and Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) fastening buttons on their shirts.

It is narrated from Hazrat Saeed Madani that he says: I was with Hazrat Abu Hurairah at a funeral. Thus, I saw him with a yellow beard and his buttons open.

Hazrat Muawiyah bin Qurrah narrates from his father, who says: I presented myself before the Noble Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) and pledged allegiance to him, and (at that time) the blessed shirt of the Prophet (peace be upon him) was open (i.e., the buttons were undone). Hazrat Urwah says: Thus, I saw Hazrat Muawiyah and his son in both cold and hot weather with their buttons undone.

It is narrated from Hazrat Abdullah bin Yazid that he says: I have never seen Hazrat Saeed bin Musayyib with his buttons fastened.

It is narrated from Hazrat Usama that he says, "I have never seen Hazrat Salim wearing buttons."

It is narrated from Fitr that he said: I saw Hazrat Salim with his buttons undone.

Hazrat Rabee’ bin Munzir narrates from his father that he saw Muhammad ibn Hanafiyyah wearing a striped Yemeni sheet with its buttons open, and Muhammad ibn Hanafiyyah also had a cap made of khaz (fine wool).

It is narrated from Hazrat Hilal bin Maymoon that he says: I never saw Hazrat Saeed ibn al-Musayyib with his buttons undone.
