Hadith 26030
٢٦٠٣٠ - حدثنا أبو بكر قال: حدثنا ابن عيينة عن الزهري سمع أبا بكر بن عبيد اللَّه (بن عمر) (١) عن جده عن النبي ﷺ قال: "إن الشيطان يأكل بشماله ويشرب بشماله، فإذا أكل أحدكم فليأكل بيمينه (وليشرب) (٢) بيمينه (٣) " (٤).
It is narrated from Hazrat Zuhri that he heard Abu Bakr bin Ubaidullah bin Abdullah narrate from his grandfather, from the Noble Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), that he said: "Satan eats with his left hand and drinks with his left hand. So when any of you eats, he should eat with his right hand and drink with his right hand."
Hadith 26031
٢٦٠٣١ - حدثنا أبو بكر قال: حدثنا يزيد بن هارون قال: أخبرنا هشام بن حسان عن عبد اللَّه بن دهقان عن أنس بن مالك قال: قال رسول اللَّه ﷺ: "إذا أكل أحدكم (فليأكل) (١) بيمينه وليشرب بيمينه، فإن الشيطان يأكل بشماله ويشرب بشماله" (٢).
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him). He says that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When any one of you eats, he should eat with his right hand and drink with his right hand. For indeed, Satan eats with his left hand and drinks with his left hand."
Hadith 26032
٢٦٠٣٢ - (حدثنا) (١) أبو بكر قال: حدثنا مروان بن معاوية عن عبد الملك (عن) (٢) عبيد بن سليمان عن الضحاك بن مزاحم عن ابن عباس قال: لا تأكلوا بشمائلكم، (ولا تشربوا بشمائلكم) (٣)، فإن آدم أكل بشماله ونسي، فأورثه ذلك النسيان (٤).
It is narrated from Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) that he said: Do not eat with your left hands. And do not drink with your left hands. Hazrat Adam, by mistake, ate with his left hand, and because of this, his memory became weak.
Hadith 26033
٢٦٠٣٣ - حدثنا أبو بكر قال: حدثنا ابن عيينة عن الوليد بن كثير عن وهب بن كيسان سمعه من عمر بن أبي سلمة قال: كنت غلامًا في حجر النبي ﷺ، وكانت يدي تطيش في الصحفة فقال لي: "يا غلام! سم اللَّه، وكل بيمينك وكل مما يليك" (١).
It is narrated from Wahb bin Kaysan that he heard Umar bin Abi Salamah say: I was a child in the care of the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), and my hand used to wander around in the dish. So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to me: "O boy! Mention the name of Allah, eat with your right hand, and eat from what is in front of you."
Hadith 26034
٢٦٠٣٤ - [حدثنا أبو بكر قال: أخبرنا عبدة بن سليمان عن هشام بن عروة عن أبيه أبي وجزة السعدي عن رجل من (مزينة) (١) عن عمر بن أبي سلمة قال: دخلت على النبي ﷺ وهو يأكل، فقال: "اجلس يا بني وقل بسم اللَّه وكل بيمينك وكل مما يليك"] (٢) (٣).
It is narrated from Hazrat Umar bin Abi Salamah, he says that I presented myself before the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) while he was eating food. So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O son! Sit down. Say Bismillah and eat with your right hand and eat from what is in front of you."
Hadith 26035
٢٦٠٣٥ - حدثنا أبو بكر قال: حدثنا يحيى بن سعيد القطان عن (١) عمارة بن مطرف عن (بريد) (٢) بن أبي مريم عن أبيه قال: رأى عمر بن الخطاب رجلًا وقد ضرب بيده اليسرى ليأكل بها، قال: لا، إلا أن تكون (يدك) (٣) عليلة أو معتلة (٤).
Hazrat Buraid bin Abi Maryam narrates from his father, who says that Hazrat Umar bin Khattab saw a man who intended to eat with his left hand. Hazrat Umar said: No, except in the case that your hand is disabled or injured.
Hadith 26036
٢٦٠٣٦ - حدثنا أبو بكر قال: حدثنا يحيى بن سعيد عن جابر بن (صبح) (١) عن ⦗٤٢٠⦘ عبيد اللَّه بن (أبي) (٢) جروة عن عمته أن عائشة رأت (امرأة) (٣) تأكل بشمالها فنهتها (٤).
Hazrat Ubaidullah bin Abi Jarwah narrates from his paternal aunt that Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) saw a woman eating with her left hand, so she forbade her from doing so.
Hadith 26037
٢٦٠٣٧ - حدثنا أبو بكر قال: حدثنا أزهر، عن ابن عون قال: شربت عند محمد بشمالي فلم (ينهني) (١).
It is narrated from Ibn Aun. He says that I drank water with my left hand in the presence of Muhammad, and he did not stop me.
Hadith 26038
٢٦٠٣٨ - حدثنا أبو بكر قال: حدثنا زيد بن الحباب عن عكرمة بن عمار عن أياس بن سلمة أن أباه حدثه أن رجلًا أكل عند رسول اللَّه ﷺ بشماله فقال: "كل بيمينك"، (قال) (١): لا أستطيع، قال: "لا، استطعت! ما منعه إلا الكبر"، قال: فما رفعهما إلى فيه (٢).
It is narrated from Hazrat Iyas bin Salamah that his father reported: A man ate with his left hand in the presence of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Eat with your right hand." The man said, "I am not able to do so." The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "May you not be able to do so." It was only arrogance that prevented the man from using his right hand. The narrator says: After that, the man was never able to raise his right hand to his mouth.
Hadith 26039
٢٦٠٣٩ - حدثنا أبو بكر قال: حدثنا ابن نمير عن عبد الملك بن أبي سليمان عن أبي الزبير عن جابر قال: نهى رسول اللَّه ﷺ أن يأكل أحدنا بشماله (١).
It is narrated from Hazrat Jabir. He says that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, forbade any of us from eating with his left hand.
