Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Abdullah bin Abi Sulaith narrates from his father, Hazrat Abu Sulaith — who is a Badri companion — that he said: The prohibition from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) regarding the meat of donkeys reached us while we were at the place of Khaybar. And the pots were boiling with the meat of donkeys. So we overturned those pots upside down.

It is narrated from Hazrat Jabir. He says that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, forbade the meat of donkeys.

The two sons of Hazrat Muhammad, Hazrat Abdullah and Hasan, narrate from their father that Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) said to Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both): "Do you not know that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade Mut'ah and the meat of domesticated donkeys?"

It is narrated from Hazrat Bara that he said: On the day of Khaybar, people suffered from severe hunger, so they found domesticated donkeys and began to cook them. But the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, gave orders regarding the pots, so they were poured out.

Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with both of them) narrates from the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that on the day of Khaybar, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade the meat of domesticated donkeys.

It is narrated from Hazrat Miqdam bin Ma'dikarib that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, declared several things to be forbidden, until he also mentioned domesticated donkeys.

It is narrated from Hazrat Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him). He says that on the day of the Battle of Khaybar, people slaughtered donkeys. When the meat began to boil in the pots, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered Hazrat Abu Talha, so he announced: Indeed, Allah Almighty and His Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) have forbidden you from (eating) domesticated donkeys, because they are impure. Thus, the pots were overturned.

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Umamah that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, forbade the eating of domesticated donkey on the day of Khaybar.

It is narrated from Hazrat Shaibani, he says: I asked Hazrat Abdullah bin Abi Awfa about domesticated donkeys. He replied: On the day of Khaybar, we were extremely hungry, and we were with the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him. We found donkeys that had gone out of the city with the people. So we slaughtered them. Our pots were boiling when the caller of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, announced: Turn over the pots, and do not eat anything from the meat of the donkeys. So we asked: Why did the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, declare them unlawful? The narrator says: We discussed among ourselves and said that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, has declared them unlawful forever. And he, peace and blessings be upon him, declared them unlawful because they are not given as part of the khums (one-fifth share).

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Hurairah that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, on the day of (the battle of) Khaybar, declared domesticated donkeys to be forbidden.

Hazrat Abu Saeed Khudri narrates from the Noble Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) that he (peace and blessings be upon him) passed by some pots that were boiling. So he (peace and blessings be upon him) said to us: "Which donkeys are these: domesticated or wild?" We said, "No, these are domesticated donkeys." He (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Then overturn these pots." The narrator says: So we overturned them, even though we were in severe hunger and we desired that food.

It is narrated from Hazrat Saeed bin Jubair. He says that the meat of these donkeys and their milk is forbidden.
