Hadith 25871
٢٥٨٧١ - حدثنا أبو بكر قال: حدثنا يحيى بن سعيد عن ابن جريج قال: أخبرني نافع قال: قيل لابن عمر: إن سعدا يأكل الضباع، فلم ينكر ذلك (١).
Hazrat Nafi narrates that it was said to Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them), "Hazrat Sa'd eats the wild donkey." Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) did not object to this.
Hadith 25872
٢٥٨٧٢ - حدثنا أبو بكر قال: حدثنا يحيى بن سعيد عن ابن جريج عن عطاء قال: لا بأس بأكلها، وقال: هي صيد.
It is narrated from Hazrat Ata. He says that there is no harm in eating it. And he said... this is game (hunted animal).
Hadith 25873
٢٥٨٧٣ - حدثنا أبو بكر قال: حدثنا وكيع عن أبي المنهال نصر بن أوس عن عمه عبد اللَّه بن زيد (قال) (١): سألت أبا هريرة عن الضبع، قال: نعجة من الغنم (٢).
Hazrat Abu Al-Minhāl Nasr bin Aws narrates from his uncle Hazrat Abdullah bin Zaid that he said: I asked Hazrat Abu Hurairah about the badger? So he replied: It is a goat among the goats.
Hadith 25874
٢٥٨٧٤ - حدثنا أبو بكر قال: حدثنا وكيع عن معقل عن عطاء عن جابر قال: (ضبع) (١) أحب إلي من كبش (٢).
It is narrated from Hazrat Jabir. He says that the badger is more beloved to me than the ram.
Hadith 25875
٢٥٨٧٥ - حدثنا أبو بكر قال: حدثنا إسماعيل بن علية عن أيوب عن عبيد اللَّه (ابن) (١) إبراهيم المكي عن مولى لهم عن جابر قال: الضبع صيد (فكلها) (٢)، ولا تصدها في الحرم (٣).
It is narrated from Hazrat Jabir. He says that the badger is game. So eat it, but do not hunt it in the Haram.
Hadith 25876
٢٥٨٧٦ - حدثنا أبو بكر قال: حدثنا يحيى بن (واضح) (١) عن (ابن) (٢) إسحاق عن عبد الكريم بن أبي المخارق عن حبان بن (جزء) (٣) (عن) (٤) أخيه خزيمة بن (جزء) (٥) قال: قلت يا رسول اللَّه ما تقول في الضبع قال: ومن يأكل الضبع (٦).
Hazrat Hibban bin Jaz’, narrates from his brother Khuzaimah bin Jaz’ that he said: I submitted, “O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! What do you say about the badger?” The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “Who eats the badger anyway?”
Hadith 25877
٢٥٨٧٧ - حدثنا أبو بكر قال: حدثنا أبو أسامة عن هشام عن أبيه قال: كانت العرب تأكل الضبع.
Hazrat Hisham narrates from his father that the Arabs used to eat badger.
Hadith 25878
٢٥٨٧٨ - (حدثنا أبو بكر قال) (١): حدثنا وكيع عن سفيان (عن) (٢) أبي ⦗٣٧٩⦘ هارون عن أبي سعيد قال: كان أحدنا لأن يهدى (له) (٣) (الضبع) (٤) المكونة أحب إليه من الدجاجة السمينة (٥).
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Saeed. He says that it was more beloved to one of us to be given a fat badger as a gift than to be given a plump, healthy chicken as a gift.
