Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

It is narrated from Hazrat Anas, he says that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "The best thing you use as a remedy is cupping (hijama), and for your children, it is Indian aloeswood (oud al-hindi)."

It is narrated from Hazrat Yasir bin Amr, he says that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "There is healing in cupping (hijama)."

It is narrated from Hazrat Abdur Rahman bin Abi Laila that the companions say: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) fell ill, so he sent someone to a man, and that man performed cupping on the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him).

It is narrated from Ibrahim. He says that ‘Uyaynah bin Hisn came to the service of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, and he (the Prophet) was having cupping done. ‘Uyaynah asked, “What is this?” The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, replied: “Of the methods by which the Arabs treat (illness), this is the best among them.”

Hazrat Abu Huraira narrates from the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "If there is any benefit in the methods you use for treatment, it is in cupping (hijama)."

It is narrated from Hazrat Samurah bin Jundub, he says: I was present in the service of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) when he (peace and blessings be upon him) called for a barber and ordered him to perform cupping on him. So he took out the cupping horns and applied them to him (peace and blessings be upon him). And he began to make incisions with the edge of a blade, and the blood of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) started to flow, and I was with him (peace and blessings be upon him). During this, a man from Banu Fazarah came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and asked, "O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! What is this? For what reason have you given this man authority over your skin that he is cutting it?" Hazrat Samurah says: Then I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say, "This is cupping." That man asked, "What is cupping?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Of the things by which people seek treatment, this is among the best of them."

It is narrated from Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both). He says that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "On the night of Mi'raj, whichever group of angels I passed by, they all said to me: O Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him)! Be sure to have cupping (hijama) done."

It is narrated from an Ansari of Banu Salamah, who says that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "If there is any cure among the things you use for treatment, it is in the incision of cupping, or in drinking honey, or in cauterization with fire, which should be according to the pain. But I do not like to be cauterized."

It is narrated from Hazrat Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him), he says: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "If there is any good in your remedies, it is in the incision of cupping, or in drinking honey, or in cauterization with fire that suits the illness. But I do not like to be cauterized."
