Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Alqamah bin Wa'il narrates from his father that a man from the tribe of Juhfi, who was called Suwaid bin Tariq, asked the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) about wine. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade him from it. He said, "O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! We make it for medicinal purposes." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "It is a disease, it is not a medicine."

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Wa'il that a man was afflicted with a stomach illness in which the face turns yellow. Someone praised date wine in his presence. The patient asked Hazrat Abdullah about it, so he replied: Allah Almighty has not placed your cure in that which He has made unlawful for you.

It is narrated from Hazrat Nafi. He says that Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) had a Bactrian camel. It became ill, and someone told me to treat it with alcohol. So I treated it. Then I told Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them), "People have told me to treat it with alcohol!" Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) asked, "Then what did you do?" I said, "No," although I had already treated it. Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) said, "If you had done this, I would have punished you."

It is narrated from Hasan. He says that Ibn 'Amir and Ibn Ziyad said: If a person is brought to me who has given wine to a child, I will certainly have him flogged.

It is narrated about Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that he also disliked the act of giving animals alcohol to drink.

It is narrated about Ibrahim that he disliked treating with wine, leech blood, and by means of fire.

It is narrated from Hazrat Hakam bin Atahd. He says that Hasan was asked: A child is suffering, can a drop of wine be given to him? He replied: No.

It is narrated from Hazrat Zuhri that Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) used to say that whoever seeks treatment through alcohol, Allah Almighty will never grant him healing.

It is narrated from Hazrat Aamir. He says that Hazrat Ibn Aamir said: Whoever gives wine to a child to drink, we will flog the one who gives it.

It is narrated from Hazrat Saad bin Ibrahim that Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) disliked treating the wound on the back of a camel with alcohol.
