Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

It is narrated from Hazrat Umm Qais bint Mihsan. She says: I went to the service of the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) with one of my sons, and because of a pain in his throat, I had applied a leech to him. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Why are you strangling your child's throat? Do this treatment. Use this Indian aloeswood (Oud Hindi), for in it is a cure for seven diseases. If there is pain in the throat, it should be inhaled through the nose, and if there is pleurisy, it should be used from the corner of the mouth."

It is narrated from Hazrat Jabir who says that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, went to Hazrat Umm Salamah, and with her was a child whose nostrils were bleeding. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, asked, "What is this?" The people replied, "He has a throat disease." Upon this, the Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Why do you women torment your children? It is sufficient for any one of you to take Indian wood, rub it in water seven times, and then drip it into the child's throat." The narrator says: The people did exactly this with the child, and the child was cured.

Hazrat Anas narrates from the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Of the medicines you use, the best medicine is cupping (hijama) and the Arabian wood, for the throat ailments of your children. And do not torment children by squeezing their throats."

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira. He says, "You must use these black seeds (kalonji) because there is a cure for every disease in them." Abu Huraira was asked, "Are you saying this by quoting the Holy Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him?" He replied, "Yes."

Hazrat Abdullah bin Buraidah narrates from his father that the Holy Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "There is a cure for every disease in black seed except poison (sām)." The people asked, "O Messenger of Allah, what is sām?" He replied, "Death."

Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates from the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he said: You must use the black seed (kalonji), for in it there is a cure for every disease.
